THIS PORTFOLIO FOCUSES ON SHOWING MY CREATIVE PROCESS AND MEANS OF EXPRESSION, SUCH AS FREEHAND 2D AND 3D DRAWING

AND DIGITAL MODELING.

THE PROJECTS PRESENTED HERE HAS BEEN SELECTED TO EVINCETHE SEVERAL AMBIENTS ON WICH I HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED MY WORK IN THE PAST YEARS, FROM THE ART

TO THE SCIENCE.

AS A DESIGNER I HAVE FOCUSED MY WORK ON THE DIALOG WITH OTHER DISCIPLINES AS A WAY TO ENHANCE THE CREATIVE PROCESS AND REACH BETTER AND MORE RESPONSIVE SOLUTIONS TO THE NEEDS. WHEN WE WHERE CALLED FOR THE DEVELOP OF A NEW EG THE KINESIOLOGIST SAID TO US TWO IMPORTANT THIINGS “WE NEED A GONIOMETER WITH AT LEAST 0,5 DEGREES RESOLUTION” AND “WE DEPEND ON THE COMPLETE RELAX OF THE PATIENT MUSCLES FOR A

CLEAN ELECTROMIOGRAPHY SIGNAL”

WE CAME WITH THE CONCEPTION ... “AN EYE FOR THE DOCTOR AND A FACE FOR THE PATIENT” A FRIENDLY LITTLE FACE TO COMBAT THE TRADITIONAL NOTION OF THE BIG SCARY MACHINES ON WICH DOCTORS RUN TEST

ON PEOPLE.

SO, WE INTEGRATE A 1500 PULSES ENCODER, THAT GIVES A 0,2 DEGREES RESOLUTION, AND A DURALUMINIUM CONTAINER TO CREATE A SORT OF BIRD WITH A BIG NOSE TO ALIGN THE AXIS OF THE SHOULDER AND ALSO TO FIX

THE ARM THAT HOLD THE PATIENT UPPER EXTREMITY.

WHEN THE HTS HOSPITAL KINESIOLOGIST TALKED TO US ABOUT THIS PROJECT THEY SAID THAT THEY NEED A DEVICE FOR TESTING THE STABILITY ON PATIENT WITH INJURED

PROPIOSEPTORSTHAT DIDN´T GIVE ANY PREVIOUS SIGNAL. THE MAIN PROBLEM IN SIMILAR DEVICES WAS THAT THE MECHANISM THAT FREE THE PLATFORM PRODUCES A LITTLE VIBRATION JUST BEFORE THE PLATFORM FALL. THIS SIGNAL CAUSES THAT THE PATIENT TAKE ACTIONS TO PREVENT THE UNBALANCE.

SO WHAT WE DID WAS RETHINK THE WHOLE STRUCTURE TO PROVIDE AN ILUSION OF STABILITY, BASED IN THE

STRUCTURE OF A FOOT. THE PLATFORM WAS SUPPORTED BY TREE VERTICAL ELEMENTS TWO OF THEM SWIVEL AND THE OTHER WAS A SIMPLE SUPPORT, A SOLENOID HIDE BELOW THE PLATFORM REMOVE THIS SUPPORT ,CAUSING THE FALLOF THE SURFACE,

FASTER THAN THE PATIENT CAN REACT.

CLIENT: AIR FORCE HOSPITALYEAR: 2008

A MOBIL WORKSTAND FOR HIPERBARIC CHAMBERS.

WHEN A PILOT FLIES A CAZA AIRCRAFT HE EXPERIMENT HIGH PRESURES DUE TO THE SPEED, THIS CAN CAUSES SEVERAL PROBLEMS THAT CAN BE FATAL. SO THE DOCTORS HAVE TO ANTICIPATE THESE EVENTS BOFORE THEY HAPPEND ON THE AIR, SO THEY NEED TO TAKE ALL THEIR EQUIPMENT INTO A HIPERBARIC CHAMBER TO TEST THE PILOT PERFORMANCE ON GROUND LEVEL. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THEY HAVE TO CARRY A GREAT AMOUNT OF DELICATE EQUIPMENT INTO A VERY NARROW ROOM AND WORK SEVERAL HOURS IN THAT

CONDITION.SO, WE CONCENTRATE THE STORAGE AND OPERATIVITY FUNCTIONS ON ONE MOBIL ELEMENT THAT FITS IN THE HIPERBARIC CHAMBER AND ALLOWS THE OPERATOR TO CHANGE AND ORIENTATE THE POSITION OF THE EMG

EQUIPMENT WHILE HE IS WORKING.

THIS WAS A TWO YEARS MULTIDICIPLINARY PROJECT IN WICH I WAS PART OF THE DESIGN TEAM. THIS TEAM WAS RESPONSABLE OF THE DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE OF THE COCKPICK OF THE CAR AN ALSO THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE BODY. FOR THIS LABOR THE TEAM HAS TO MAKE SEVERAL STUDIES, TO INTEGRATE THE ANTROPOMETRY OF THE PILOTS, TO DETERMINE THE PILOT INTERACTION WITH THE CONTROLS AND TO GUARANTEE THE COMFORTABILTY AND SAFENESS OF THE PERSON INSIDE

THE CAR.ANOTHER ROL OF THE DESIGN TEAM WAS TO DEVELOP THE IDENTITY OF THE PROJECT AND GIVE LECTURES IN SEVERAL INSTITUTION AND CONGRESS TO INTEGRATE THE SCIENTIFIC AND BUSSINES COMUNITY TO THIS

INITIATIVE.

INTRODUCING THE CONCEPT OF THE CONSTRUCTIVE EDUCATION IN CLASS ROOM FURNITURE.

IN THE 90´S THE CHILEAN EDUCATION SYSTEM CHANGED, IT TAKE A NEW DIRECTION FROM THE CONDUCTIVISM TO THE CONSTRUCTIVISM PHILOSOPHY, IN WHICH THE BOY BUILD HIS OWN KNOWLEDGE TOGETHER WITH HIS PAIRS. THE EDUCATION CHANGE, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE EDUCATIONAL ENVIROMENT? THE CLASSROOM STAYS AS THE SAME AS ALWAYS, AND WITH THE NEW PEDAGOGY DEVELOPS NEW PROBLEMS. THE MAIN ISSUE OF THIS SITUATION WAS THAT THE OLD FURNITURE WAS DESIGNED TO WORK ALONE AND

THE NEW WAY OF TEACH NEEDS TO WORK IN GROUPS.“WITH OUT FRIEND, IS NOT LEARN”

IMPROVE THE WORK STANDARTS FOR PRE -SCHOOL TEACHER

TO REDUCING THE BACK INJURES

ONE OF THE MAIN WORK DESEASES OF THE PRESCHOOL TEACHERS IS THE BACK PAIN . WE FIND OUT THA T THIS PARTICULAR PAINS WAS LINKED TO PUT THE BABYES IN THEIRS CRADLES, BECAUSE THE CRADLES WAS TOO HIGH AND THE EXCERCISE OF LIFT THE CHILDREN ABOVE THE CRADLE WALL WAS TOO DEMANDING FOR THE BACK MUSCLES. SO WE MADE A CRADLE WICH WALLS CAN CHANGE HIS HIGH WITH OUT PUTTING THE CHILDRENS IN RISK. THE BIOMECHANICAL TESTS ESTABLISHED THAT THE EXCERCISE ON NEW CRADLE AS A 70% MORE

EFFICIENT THAN THE PREVIOUS ONES.

FREE SPACE AND SETTING THE NORTH (AS A METAPHOR OF A GOOD WAY) IN THE CENTER

OF THE HOUSE.

THIS TABLE WAS MADE FOR A NEWLY MARRIED COUPLE THAT LIVES IN A SMALL APARTMENT. BECAUSE OF THAT THEY NEED TO SAVE ALL THE SPACE AS THEY CAN. WITH THIS IN MIND THE LEGS OF THE TABLE WAS PUTTING IN THE CORNER ATTACHED TO THE SURFACE WITH A JOINT THAT ALLOWS NOT TO PUT ANY OTHER STRUCTURAL ELEMENT LEAVING ALL THE SPACE UNDER THE TABLE FREE FOR THE LEGS, ADMITING 8 PERSONS IN A NARROW

FOR THIS PLAY THE STAGE WAS CONCEPTUALIZED AS A METAPHOR OF A REALITY THAT IS FALLING APPART, AS THE TEXT DESCRIBES. TO ACHIEVE THAT WE PROJECT (TOGETHER WITH THE DIRECTOR) A SPACE MADE OUT OF FRAGMENTS WHICH CAN BE ARRANGE TO FORM A PERFECT CIRCLE OR A BED OR JUST A MUSS, WHILE THE IDENTITY OF THE SPACE WAS DETERMINED THROUGH REAR AND FRONT

PROYECTIONS ABOVE THE VEIL.ALSO WAS MADE THE GRAPHIC CAMPAIGN FOR

THIS STAGE DESIGN , DEVELOPED TOGETHER WITH THE ARCHITECT CAMILO SOTO, PROPOSES THE SPACE AS A JAIL, THE HOUSE AS A JAIL IN WICH THE OBJECT CONTAINED CAME OUT OF THE FLOOR AS PART OF THE BUILDING TO SIMBOLIZE THE HEAVYNESS AND INMOBILITY

OF A WORKING MEN REALITY.THIS PROJECT COMPREND THE DESIGN A CREATION OF A MODULAR STAGE, THE GRAPHIC CAMPAIGN AND THE

IDENTITY FOR THE DRAMA COMPANY.

IMPROVING THE FLUIDITY IN THE PLAYING EXPERIENCE WITH A ROBUST WIDE RANGE SOUND

THIS FRETLESS BASS GUITAR IS BASED IN THE IDEA OF HAVE A JOINT FREE ELEMENT WHO DIDN´T CUT THE VIBRATION WAY AND THE FLUIDITY OF THE PLAYER AS IT HAPPEND IN THE MASS PRODUCTION BASSES WHO HAS A BODY AND AN ARM JOINED BY SCREWS. TO ACHIVE THAT I BUILT A SINGLE ELEMENT MADE OUT OF TREE COMPENSED WOOD LAYERS WICH COMPREND ALL THE EXTENTION OF THE STRINGS FROM THE HEAD TO THE BOTTOM, PASSING THE STRINGS THROUGH THE BODY BY AN HARD WOOD BRIDGE. TO IMPROVE THE PLAYING THE BACK OF THE BODY AND THE ARM WAS CARVED TO MACH THE FRETBOARD ALLOWING TO

REACH EVERY NOTE OF EVERY CORD.

HOW TO IMPROVE THE SOUND OF A STANDART MASS PRODUCTION BASS GUITAR

THE STANDART BASS GUITARS HAS A VERY MID RANGE SOUND SUFFERING FROM A LACK OF BRIGHTNESS. IN THIS INTRUMENT I EXPLORE THE WOOD CUALITIES TO CONVEY THE VIBRATIONS LINKED TO HIS DENSITY. BY THIS WAY I FIND OUT THAT WITH A HIGH DENSITY WOOD IT CAN BE ACHIEVE A BRIGHTER SOUND, AND WITH A LOW DENSITY WOOD THE SUOND WILL BE MORE DEEPER, SO I MIX A HARD WOOD (LINGUE) WITH A LOW DENSITY WOOD

THIS PROJECT WAS ABOUT HOW TO PUT A GREAT AMOUNT OF INFORMATION, ELICIT IN A NATIONAL POLL OF CULTURAL CONSUME IN A SIMPLE AND INTITUIVE VISUALIZATION FOR THE PUBLIC ACTORS CAN EVALUATE THE CULTURAL

CLIENT: KU DESIGNYEAR: 2007

PRESENTING A BRANDING ICON AS THE CENTER OF A FAIR STAND.

THIS TRUCK WAS AN ICON FOR THE CONCRETE COMPANY BIO-BIO, AND THEY WANTED TO SHOW IT IN A LOCAL CONSTRUCTION FAIR, BUT THEY ALSO WANTED TO CONVERT THIS SIMBOL IN THE CENTER PIECE OF THEIR STAND AND MAKE SOME ACTIVITIES AROUND HIM. WE DECIDE TO PRESENT THIS TRUCK AS A JEWEL IN A CRISTAL CAPSULE AND EMPOWERED THE CAPSULE WITH CORDINATED LEDS AND A SIREN FOR THEY WANT TO BRING THE ATENTION FOR CONTEST OR ACTIVITIES

AROUND THE TRUCK.
