Cammo Netting Tutorial

As promised, the cammo netting tutorial for those that are interested.

Preparation is the key as always.

Firstly get some tap water in a saucer and add basic PVA glue

Get a just thicker than milky consistency

Cut thin strips strips of kitchen towel

Then cut them into !"#mm bits

$ou now ha%e your watered down PVA& your cut up stips of kitchen towel& some folded

kitchen towel& the medical gau'e& a metal knife with pointy end& a pair of sharp

scissors and your %ehicles

Cut up the netting to small manageable si'es( )on*t try to do the whole netting at

once or it will look rubbish as you will loose control of the gau'e( $ou can always join

loadsa bits to make it look like one big net

)ip the net in the watered PVA being carefull to keep it spred out( +f you just dump it

in it will all gather together and be a bitch to separate again

Carefully take the spread out gau'e out of the PVA

Place it on the folded kitchen towel to take some of the watered PVA off again( +f

you place it on the tank still soaking it will not get the best effect

take it off the towel& it will still be fairly wet

Place it where you want it on the tank( ,se the metal knife to shape it to the contours

of the tank and& if re-uired& use the knife to wet the net so as to help it stick and

shape

+ hae used . or / bits of gau'e to simulate a single net o%er the right side and front

of the tank( 0emember Gra%ity& and let the netting sag and drop downwards

+t*s a good idea to add stowage to sit on top of the netting( This gi%es a true 1used1

effect( 2n some of my earlier tanks + used fuel cans& in this case + will use some

poles used to raise the netting and disrupt the shape of the tank( + used this idea on

my 3hadow3word( +n this case + super glued . together

and then superglued them on top of a bit of netting as if they had been abandonned

Now comes the cloth strips simulated by the strips of kitchen towel( )ump a

manageable amount into the watered PVA

+ use the metal knife to sort the strips in the PVA and then pick one at a time and

transfer them to the tank

Place then in a random manner and use the knife 4used cos they don*t stick to it5 to

crunch them up a bit so they don*t fall into just straight lines

+t takes a while& but make sure you put enough on to look good but not too much

2ther side of tank with netting o%er stubber

The final step

Tear open a tea bag and sprinkle some tea leaf shreds over the still wet netting.Again not too much. Wet the netting with the watered PVA using the knife if required

to get the tea leaves to stick.
