Ensuring All Children Can Go To Camp!
Camp Jubilee is committed to ensuring that all families are able to send their children to camp regardless of their current financial circumstances. To accomplish this we work year round to raise funds to support this mission.
Camp Jubilee does this by:
Raising funds through our annual “Send a Kid to Camp Campaign” where unions, individuals and businesses donate to assist with the cost of children attending camp Jubilee.
Developing partnerships with supportive organizations and groups that raise funds in communities to send low-income children to Camp Jubilee.
Working with schools and communities to assist in identifying low-income children.
Encouraging schools, organizations and other groups to rent camp facilities with profits being used exclusively to support the charitable purposes of Camp Jubilee.
Working with the Camp Jubilee Alumni Group to host fundraising events, which provide additional support to low income families.

Camp Jubilee provides a safe and welcoming environment for all campers. Our staff are trained to assist
campers to have a successful camping experience. All staff work together to identify and prevent any and all
forms of bullying and / or negative and harmful behaviours.
To ensure a positive camp experience for campers, parents are required to provide as much information prior
to camp which will assist Camp Leaders with your child.
At Camp Jubilee, when a camper does not follow behaviour guidelines, the following steps are taken:
Staff will verbally redirect the camper to more appropriate behaviour.
If the inappropriate behaviour continues, the camper will be reminded of behaviour guidelines and
rules and asked to decide on actions steps to correct his/her behaviour.
If the camper’s behaviour still does not meet expectations and is affecting the experience of other
campers, he/she will be referred to one of the Behaviour Management Team. A written behavior
contract may be used and parents are notified as well.
On occasion, if an individual camper or cabin group having difficulty will benefit from a break, campers
may be given the opportunity to join another activity or cabin group.
If inappropriate behaviour continues, as a final action step, the camper may be sent home from camp.
In addition, the parent/guardian will be responsible for any costs associated with the
camper’s dismissal for behaviour reasons (i.e. water taxi, bus fare, etc).
The Behaviour Management Team may also be called upon to work with the entire
cabin group who need additional support and behaviour guidance.
Some examples of unacceptable behaviour:
Some severe behaviours may result in immediate dismissal from camp (such as violence/
fighting). If a camper is removed from camp for behaviour reasons, no refund will be given
for any portion of the camp session.
Refusing to follow behaviour guidelines
or camp rules
Using profanity, vulgarity or obscenity
Stealing
Damaging property (personal or camp
property)
Refusal to cooperate with staff
Disrupting a program
Leaving a program without permission
Endangering the health and safety of
campers/staff
Use of illicit drugs, alcohol or tobacco
products
Teasing, making fun or bullying of other
campers or staff
Fighting of any kind
Pre-Camp: Talk to you children about their upcoming camp session. They will be spending a fun-
filled week in a caring inclusive group living environment. Discuss the new skills they will learn and
friends they will make. Camp friendships can last a lifetime!!!
Post-Camp: If you child comes home dirty, tired, full of stories, confident and overwhelmed with
their love of camp, you can feel great that your child had a successful summer! If your child has had
concerns about their camp experience, please call us! We strive to make camp an amazing adven-
ture and any feedback is greatly appreciated.

The Camp Jubilee Wellness Coordinator is responsible for dispensing of all
camper medications (including vitamins/supplements and non-prescription
drugs). All medication/vitamins will be collected and stored in the First Aid
room. Please send all medication in a zip lock bag with camper’s name and
clear directions on their use. Leftover medication will be returned at the end of
camp.
At Camp Jubilee, we strive to maintain a consistently healthy environment for our camp-
ers. As a camp community living in close quarters, head lice can spread quickly and be
hard to eliminate. In an effort to prevent lice, we ask parents to check their child’s hair
before they come to camp.
In order to assist parents and maintain a healthy camp we abide by the following policy:
On the first day of camp each camper will be checked for head lice after signing in. If
any lice or nits are found at that time or at any time during the camping session, the
camper will be asked to return home.
Once the camper is lice and nit free, they will have the following options:
Choose another week – Parents can bring their child back for another
week during the current summer, if space is available.
In the event another week is not available you may choose a partial refund (50% of camp
fees paid).
Healthy campers help make happy campers! If your child is sick or injured (minor—
not requiring emergency services) during a camp session, we will consult you (the parent) to determine the
best course of action for your child. If a camper is sick for more than 4 hours while at camp, we do err on the
side of caution and request that the child is taken home—a proactive approach to preventing spreading of a
potential virus to remaining campers and staff. Campers can return to camp as soon as they are symptom
free.
9
Camp Jubilee staff strive to protect campers and themselves from sun exposure. All campers are required
to wear sunscreen and hats each day. All campers and staff carry a water bottle to stay hydrated.
Camp Jubilee is a “nut-managed” camp.
We regularly encounter campers who have life
threatening allergies to nuts. In an effort to ensure their
personal safety during their stay at Camp Jubilee, we
prepare and serve meals which are free of nuts and nut
products.
We also request that all visitors and staff DO NOT bring
nuts or products containing nuts to camp. Items
brought to camp containing either of these will be
confiscated and removed (*For this reason we cannot
guarantee to be nut-free).
We pride ourselves on providing nutritious and delicious meals and snacks of exceptional quality. Our Food
Services Department is lead by an extremely experienced and skilled Chef! Our kitchen staff also include a
Special Diets Cook and many kitchen helpers.
As we are sensitive to allergies and dietary restrictions of our campers, we provide some alternatives for
certain special diets. Although we can accommodate most dietary restrictions, we suggest that those with
severe allergies or diet restrictions bring their own meals/food.

Q: If I have children in multiple age groups, can I drop them off at the same time? YES! If
you have campers that fall into different age categories in regards to boat departure times, we
will schedule them for the same boat.
Q: Do I have to wait with my camper(s) until the boat leaves? YES! All parents/guardians are
required to stay with their campers until the boat departs.
Q: How long is the boat ride to camp? What island is the camp on? The boat ride is 45
minutes from Cates Park to Camp Jubilee. Camp Jubilee is NOT on an island; it is
approximately halfway up Indian Arm on the mainland. It is only accessed by boat because the
road doesn’t go that far.
Q. What if my child gets homesick? All Camp Jubilee staff are trained to identify and manage
homesickness. Camp staff work to ensure campers are comfortable at camp, making friends
and kept busy with activities each day. If a camper is experiencing homesickness, our staff will
quickly respond to any anxieties or concerns. We rarely allow campers to call home as this
tends to exacerbate the homesickness—however sometimes it is an option (situation depend-
ing). The Camp Director will contact you (the parent) and update you on your camper if needed.
Q. Where do campers sleep? Camp Jubilee has both cabins and yurts. Each can sleep up to
10 people (bunk-style beds). All cabins and yurts have electricity and heat as well as a 2-piece
bathroom.
Q. How do you deal with bedwetting or other potentially embarrassing medical/behaviour
issues? First of all—your camper is not the only one! It happens every session, every year!
All medical and behavioural information is kept confidential and only available to the Camp Di-
rector, Camper Wellness Team and your child’s cabin counsellor. Our counsellors are trained
to deal with these discreetly including getting your camper’s pajamas/sleeping bag laundered as
needed.
Q. What is an Outtrip? For some, it’s the highlight of their summer camp session! Campers
either hike/canoe/kayak to a location onsite (on the Camp Jubilee grounds) or to a beautiful
location on Indian Arm such as Twin Islands or Granite Falls. Outtrip locations are based on
camper’s skill and age. Campers get the unique opportunity to experience nature, strengthen
their group bond through meeting challenges and accomplishing goals together. For camp
sessions less than 5 days long, an alternative to the outtrip may be substituted such as a camp
wide outdoor movie and sleepover night (all outdoors).
