King’s has agreed to become an early adopter for the professional development of external examiners, as part of the degrees standards project (https://www.heacademy.ac.uk/hefce-degree-standards).
The scheme will run as follows. Step 1 An HEA-facilitated institutional delivery of the external examiner course. This is where HEA project consultants will run the professional development course at King’s for 30 external examiners The provisional date for this is March 1st 2018.Step 2 Educational developers from King’s will be invited to attend the ‘Develop the Developer’ event. Each developer must have completed the professional development course in Step 1. The provisional date for this is 16 April 2018 and will be held at a venue in LondonStep 3 An HEA-assisted course at King’s. This is the course where the HEA will assist the Educational Developers to deliver the course for the first running. The provisional date may change but is pencilled in for May 3rd or 4th 2018We are looking for volunteers to take part in this pilot
