Engineering Presenter/Speaker Biographies

Harold Hicks, Atlantic Code Consultants – Mr. Hicks has over 30 years experience in

conducting surveys of existing healthcare facilities for fire protection and life safety. He has

prepared Statement of Conditions and Life Safety Assessments for all levels of healthcare

occupancies from small outpatient centers to 1,500 bed major medical centers. During this

process, he has developed long term plans of correction which have been accepted by

JCAHO, state and local agencies. He is well versed in the application of NFPA 101, the Life

Safety Code®, as he uses it on a daily basis. He is currently working with Excela Health,

Ohio Valley General Hospital, Allegheny Health Network, and Mount Nittany Medical

Center in Western PA. Mr. Hicks has conducted basic fire protection engineering training

for the Army Corps of Engineers and the Air Force, and basic fire safety for the National

Certification Program for Fire Safety in Board and Care Homes for the Developmentally

Disabled. He has assisted teaching a Building Fire Safety Course to professors of

engineering from around the world at the Emergency Management Institute in Emittsburg,

Maryland. Mr. Hicks was the lead instructor for 23 years for the Army Corp of Engineers

Basic Fire Protection Engineering Course and an instructor for the Fire Suppression

Systems course; both 36 hour training classes for architects and engineers.

Robert Wright, Stantec – Mr. Wright has a diversified background with more than 25

years of healthcare experience, primarily representing Owners in planning, designing and

managing construction of major capital projects. Prior to joining Stantec, he served as

senior project manager and on the facilities management team for both teaching and

community hospitals. He is an expert at preparing operational impact assessments that

pro-actively minimizes the effects of construction on existing facilities. Robert has also

created design and construction standards for Academic Medical Centers and for

international clients.

Engineering Presenter/Speaker Biographies

Michael Browning, JLL Healthcare - Mr. Browning uses his 35 years of project

experience and skills in capital planning and project management in healthcare to increase

productivity and data accuracy and at the same time reduce risk during the functional

programming and schematic design phases of each assignment. His value adds with his

approach systematically and consistently results in documented decreases in project

changes, cost avoidance and ultimately client cost savings. Michael has a broad

experience base in architecture, engineering, interior design and real estate development

with a focus on integrated healthcare projects and their advanced technology. His

experience in healthcare includes New Acute Care Hospitals for both Adult and Pediatric

along with the Specialty and Ambulatory Care centers. Michael has performed multiple

successful deliveries of Outpatient Cancer Centers, Radiation Oncology Programs, In-

Patient Nursing Unit expansions, retrofit and refurbishments. Healthcare surgical

technology projects include Robotic, mobile and fixed Cysto, Cath Lab and Multidisciplinary

Surgical Suites. Michael has also managed projects in the Micro Electronics, Semi

Conductor, Bio Pharmaceutical and Pharmaceutical Compounding laboratory markets

working at the submicron level for some of the nation’s leading process and technology

providers such as, Johnson and Johnson, Abbott Laboratories, ST Microelectronics, USAA,

Hitachi, Motorola, SmithCline Beacham, and the Pantex Nuclear Component Staging

facility to name a few. Michael has also lead multidisciplinary project teams for global

service providers such as CBRE, The Trammell Crow Company and Lockwood Greene.

Steve Bradshaw, Evergreen Medical Services – Mr. Bradshaw is the president of

Evergreen Medical Services, Inc., a 30 employee medical gas and environmental services

company working for over 500 facilities in the eastern part of the US. Steve has worked as

a Medical Gas & Environmental Systems Consultant for 24 years and specializes in

environmental and piped medical gas systems consulting, education, inspections, testing,

repairs, and design. He has worked for hospitals while based in New York, NY, Pittsburgh,

PA and Raleigh, NC. Steve holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina

State University, and his credentials include: ASSE/NITC Certified Medical Gas Systems

6010 Installer, 6020 Inspector, 6030 Verifier, 6050 Instructor, MGPHO Credentialed

Verifier, and is the current VP of MGPHO.

Dennis Sikkema, Price Industries – Mr. Sikkema is the Director of Technical Sales for

Price Industries Inc. of Atlanta, Georgia, and has been with the company for over 15 years.

Prior to that he was with Tuttle & Bailey for 12 years as an Application Engineer, Product

Manager, and a Regional Sales Manager. Dennis began his career as an Application

Engineer with Johnson Controls for 6 years and has a BSME from Western Michigan

University. Dennis is a Member of ASHRAE and has been involved in ASHRAE and ARI

committees. With over 33 years of experience in the industry, Dennis is an expert on

numerous HVAC applications and actively provides training, project and design guidance

throughout North America. At Price he oversees training programs and technical sales

activities.

Scott Cowley, Mason & Barry – Mr. Cowley is an outside sales representative for Mason

& Barry, Inc. and he is approaching his 12th year anniversary with the company. Prior to

joining the Mason & Barry sales team, Scott graduated from WVUIT with a BS in Industrial

Technologies and an AS in Drafting and Design. He began his career with Mason & Barry

in hydronic sales, but has subsequently had extensive experience in airside product sales

and is currently a key member of the Equipment Product Division. At Mason & Barry,

Scott is responsible for relations development with the Professional Engineering community

as well as representing Daikin VRV sales and applied systems sales and configuration.

David Rollins, Cummins Crosspoint – Mr. Rollins is the Power System Sales Account

Manager with Cummins Crosspoint. He began his career with Cummins in September of

1993 as Service Manager, then promoted to Branch Manager, and for the past 4 years has

assumed the role of the Power System Sales Account Manager.

Ridhi Jhavar, Cummins Crosspoint – Ms. Jhavar is the Territory Representative with

Cummins Power Generation. She is an Electrical Engineer, Studied at University of

Waterloo, and has been with Cummins for 3 years.

Alan Beasley, Cummins Crosspoint – Mr. Beasley is the Power Generation Service

Sales Account Manager with Cummins Crosspoint. He studied at Marshall University, and

has been with Cummins for 3 years.

Engineering Presenter/Speaker Biographies

David Linamen, Stantec - David specializes in energy-conscious design for healthcare,

lab, and higher education projects, and has an in-depth understanding of all engineering

systems vital to these types of facilities. He is an innovator who applies strategic planning

and technology to solve unprecedented problems. His engineering responsibilities have

included the design of new systems and comprehensive system renovations, as well as the

evaluation of existing facilities, computer program development, research, and energy

management programs for existing buildings. David has led teams in creating award-

winning projects that have received both regional and national ASHRAE Energy Awards for

energy-efficient design. He is a contributor to a number of research projects that have

received national awards. He has also authored many technical articles and lectured

extensively in the general fields of residential / commercial energy management and

design.

Barry Justice, Camden Clark Medical Center - Barry has worked in the Hospital

Environment since 1981. Beginning as a Clinical Equipment Technician, he increased his

experience by serving as a Plant Operations Manager and as an Environmental Services

Director at several Hospitals. His current position as Director of Engineering at Camden

Clark Medical Center demands he have a good working knowledge of Infection Risks

associated with Construction and Renovation. As a Certified Healthcare Facility Manager

he strives to stay up to date on the latest issues facing the Healthcare Environment.

Ronald Stricker, OHFLAC - Mr. Stricker graduated from West Virginia Institute of

Technology in 1977 and began his career as an associate engineer with Union Carbide

Corporation. His career includes employment by the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s

Office as the Chief of the Plans Review Division, BSA Architectural/Engineering Firm as a

designer and Construction Manager, Charleston Area Medical Center as the Safety

Coordinator. Mr. Stricker is currently employed by the West Virginia Department of Health

and Human Resources, Office of Inspector General, Health Facilities Licensure and

Certification as the Architect/Engineer, Life Safety Code Manager, as well as the CMS Fire

Authority. Mr. Stricker is currently an active member of the American Society of Health

Care Engineers, National Fire Protection Association, and the West Virginia Society for

Health Care Engineering where he served as the President.

21st at Canaan Valley Resort. On Wednesday August 19, 2013, the trade show will be held from

Non-payment of ad space will result in removal from site. WVSHE will make reasonable attempts to

WVSHE DUES fiscal year runs from June 1 through May 31. Individuals eligible for membership in the association shall be those actively employed in the field of

healthcare engineering and/or maintenance department as designated by the department head or

administrator of member institutions.

Individual membership / sponsorship classifications shall be as follows:

(a) Active (voting) member – any individual eligible to hold office as defined above.

(b) Associate Sponsor (non-voting) – representative of suppliers, contractors, consulting engineers, and

other groups that have a technical knowledge, resource material and a direct interest in the healthcare

engineering field may apply for membership as associate. This member will have no voting rights and

shall not hold elective office.

(c) Honorary NO Charge (non-voting) member – Former member who has retired from their healthcare

related position. This member will have no voting rights and shall not hold elective office.

2015 Annual Meeting Hotel Reservation Information

This year’s annual meeting will be held at Canaan Valley Resort from August 18-21.

Please reserve your room on or by June 16, 2015 as this is the last day the special

discount rates will apply. Registrations made after this date may not be guaranteed

and may have higher rates.

To reserve your room, please contact Canaan Valley Resort directly at 800-622-4121 and

select Option 1. Use Group # 15757 when making your registration to obtain the

discounted rates. If you need an early check-in, please make your request when

you make your reservation. Room rates are as follows:

2 Queens or 1 King $119/night

Junior Suite $135/night

King Suite $250/night

REMINDER: There are no activities included with the rooms. Activities requiring

payment will either be charged to your room, or on a pay as you go basis.
