LANDSCAPE/ENVIRONMENT

Canada is geologically active, having many earthquakes and active volcanoes.

By total area (including its waters), Canada is the second-largest country in the world, after Russia. By land area alone, however, Canada ranks fourth.

Canada’s largest river is the Mackenzie which is over 4,200 km in length.

The wildlands of Canada provide important habitat for many animals, both endangered and not.

Canada is home to approximately 70 000 known species of plants and animals.

TRADITIONS/CULTURE

Around January 6th, Canadians celebrate La Fête du Roi, when family members share a special cake where a lucky bean is hidden.

In Nova Scotia, the masked people or Belsnicklers are characters that walk through the streets in December demanding treats while ringing bells, giving candy to the children.

Folk dance is a traditional dance in Canada.

Canadian cuisine varies widely depending on the regions of the nation.
