and active. In Visual Arts we are studying Art History and we have started with Cave Art!

The Kinder Orientations will begin next Tuesday with lots of fun activities. Thank you for your continued support with the Home Readers, if your child has misplaced their folder please send a note in so I can make a new folder. Awards This Week: James and Isla: A great start to Term 4. Macy and Peyton T: Working hard in Writing.

Class 2M:

Welcome back to term 4! This term we will be focussing on time, fractions and multiplication in Maths. These three areas are linked because skip counting by 5s is helpful for telling the time, as is a knowledge of quarters and halves.

In Science we will be looking at mixtures, how different ingredients interact and whether they can be separated again or not. This will definitely be messy and fun!

In Literacy we will be learning about paragraphs and applying our new skills to our animal project. This project will be done in class and allows students to choose an animal that they are interested in to research and write about. Over the next few weeks could you please purchase a blank poster sized sheet of cardboard (any colour) for your child to bring into school.

Awards This Week: Natalie: Fantastic start at Candelo Public School. Kelsey: Excellent effort in literacy groups. Layla: Working hard in maths. Saphira: Excellent effort in reading.

Class 3BJ:

A great start to the term, we certainly have an enthusiastic group ready to do some great learning. Welcome back to Mikah and Jasmine, the children have made them feel most welcome.

This term our literacy focus is to develop vocabulary, improve comprehension skills and reading fluency, become awesome during public speaking and further develop confidence in writing - fluently express ideas and edit accurately for spelling, grammar and punctuation. Typing skills should be practised using Typing Tournament to assist with publishing fluency.

In numeracy we are developing greater confidence in mental computation strategies so that effective

problem solving in one step and two step problems involving addition, subtraction, division and multiplication is possible.

Oz Harvest Feast voucher has provided us with 6 electric frypans and a set of kitchen utensils which will be used across the school. We would love some parent helpers to help with the cooking and cookbook development.

Stage 3 will travel to Four Winds Youth Festival near Bermagui on Friday 1 November for a combined choral presentation. (see note attached)

Stage 3 are also planning their project for this term, (Week 2 to Week 5) a small project to demonstrate an area of passion eg design and build a model of a chook pen. One group will continue to work on the combined STEM “Up the Back” project.

The children will present their learning to the class and to parents (who are able to attend), starting in week 5. An adult mentor to assist the children will make it a deep learning experience.

A huge term ahead and with PERMA – PERMA is an acronym for a model of well-being put forth by a pioneer in the field of positive psychology, Martin Seligman. According to Seligman, PERMA makes up five important building blocks of well-being and happiness: 1. Positive emotions – feeling good 2. Engagement – being completely absorbed in activities 3. Relationships – being authentically connected to others 4. Meaning – purposeful existence 5. Achievement – a sense of accomplishment and success. (It is another opportunity to teach children the FISH Philosophy in a different way.

Awards This Week: Jasmine and Mikah: Welcome we love your great attitude to learning. Hayden, Jessica and Eamon: Working consistently to achieve outstanding maths outcomes.
