Candy - Overview - October 1st - November 19th OVERVIEW In these 8 fun lessons based on candy, kids will learn life lessons about worldly temptations, growing in Christ, and living for God. Memory Verse: Psalm 119:103 "How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” THE MAIN POINTS 1. Gum: Nothing in this world can give you lasting happiness, but Jesus can give you joy. 2. Sour Candy: When we follow our own plans and not God’s, the plans that we thought would turn out sweet usually turn sour. 3. Mints: We cannot hide our sin, but Jesus wants to help us get rid of it. 4. Movie Candy: There is a price for following Jesus, but it pales in comparison to what he did for us. 5. Chocolate: God created the good things in this world to remind us of his goodness. 6. Cotton Candy: We need to build our lives on Jesus. 7. Jelly Beans: God created us all different, but he wants us to be united as a church. 8. Candy Bar: God wants us to love our neighbor as ourselves - even those who disagree with us. Candy - Huddle Lesson 6 - November 5th Main Point: Cotton Candy: We need to build our lives on Jesus.!!Break the ice. During Meal Time to lead into study. !Overview: The world wants us to build our life on worldly things, things that are here today and gone tomorrow. God wants us to build our lives on a solid foundation, and that foundation is Jesus.!Ask: Which color cotton candy tastes better - pink or blue?!Read Matthew 7:24-29!What did the wise builder do to make sure his house stood strong? !What mistake did the foolish builder make? What happened to the two houses when the storm came? Will Jesus ever let us down?!Can we always trust Jesus with our lives?!!Activity 1- Create a ROCK house!If you chose to do this activity the supplies will be in the kitchenette. Talk with the kids while you make and paint the rocks about what the hard times they may face in life and that we MUST have a solid foundation. Our house must be built on the rock. !!Activity 2- Act out the story !Have the kids act out the parable of the wise and foolish builders.!!Discussion and PrayerDear God, Help us to put our trust in you and not in earthly things. Help us to make you #1 in our lives and love you with all our hearts. Thank you for loving us first. In Jesus’ name, Amen!!Bonus Activity: Build a tower using blocks or objects and talk about the foundation. !!!
