    Dear Canyon View Families,

Conference week is behind us and I hope that your conversations with your childrens teachers wereinformative. Conference week is a valuable time for us each year as it is a way to coordinate our col-lective efforts to help educate our children and support the work that is taking place at school and athome. As we all can agree, learning doesnt stop when our children leave school, and we are committedto strengthening the school-home partnership.

In an effort to ensure that parent-teacher conferences are meeting the needs of everyone involved, weare asking parents to give us some feedback by completing a short survey. Please use the link below tocomplete the survey. If you have multiple children who attend Canyon View, we would appreciate it ifyou completed a separate survey for each child. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NYN97KM

Over the next two weeks, we have three exciting events happening around campus beginning with to-nights Canyon Boo! This long-standing tradition kicks off at 6:00 p.m. and includes several fun and en-gaging activities ranging from trick-or-treating (6-8 p.m.), the Sonora Desert Museum's Spooky AnimalExhibit, Mad Science, and the silent auction. Well see you there!

Next, on October 31st we will be having our annual Halloween Parade out on the North Field. We willbe starting the festivities promptly after morning announcements and students who are planning ondressing up should arrive at school dressed in their costumes. When selecting a costume for yourchild/children, please be sure that it is appropriate for school. Children are not permitted to wear facepaint, bring dangerous items, or items that represent weapons or could be used in a way that couldcause injury to other participants. After our parade has concluded, all students will be expected tochange back into their regular school attire. We appreciate your support!

Finally, on November 7th we will be hosting CVs Science Fair Kick-Off Night from 6-7 p.m. in the MPR.This informational session will give students and parents insight regarding the scientific process andwhat it takes to create a quality science fair project. Students who participate in this project-basedlearning will experience first-hand the excitement and sense of accomplishment that comes with com-pleting a science experiment from start to finish, regardless of the end result. Hands-on learning is aneffective way to spark students natural sense of curiosity, and the impact could last a lifetime!

    Have a wonderful weekend!

    Sincerely,

    Rob HenikmanPrincipal

    Notification of Pest Control

State Law (House Bill 2135, Chapter 102) requires the school district to notifyparents, legal guardians, and employees 48 hours prior to pest/weed controltreatments.

In accordance with these requirements, Essential Pest, vendor for pesticidetreatment, will visit our school once month to inspect building exteriors, kitchenareas, and restrooms, and to perform pest control treatments of those areas, asrequired. Our current pest control program does not include pesticideapplications inside classrooms. Such applications are performed only if infestationoccurs. Essential Pest will treat Canyon View on the third Tuesday of each month.
