The smart grid construction will remarkably promote the ability of power grid to sustainclean energy.

Future Trend Smart Grid and Clean Energy

With strong Smart Grid , integrated hydropower capacity could reach 350 GW and theintegrated wind power would be 150 GW by 2020.In Traditional Grid , integrated hydropower capacity would be 300 GW and theintegrated wind power would only be 70 GW by 2020.

On Nov. 25, 2009, executive meeting of the State Council announced

that we will reduce carbon emission per unit of GDP by 40-45% comparedwith 2005 level.

In REPORT ON THE WORK OF THE GOVERNMENT in 2010 and2011 Premier Wen Jiabao pointed out that the smart grid constructionshould be strengthenned in rows.

On Sept. 22, 2009, President Hu Jintao spoke at the Unitednations climate change summit that: We'll strive to increase the share of non-fossil fuels in primary energy consumption to around 15% by 2020 .

    Voices from Chinese Government

On Mar. 16. 2011, the Twelfth Five-Year Plan for National Economicand Social Development of the Peoples Republic of China indicated thedevelopment of ultra-high voltage, high-capacity, high-efficiency and long-distance modern transmission technology and the improvement of smartgrid construction based on advanced information, control and energy-

The state strategic target by 2020 is to limit the carbon emissionunder 9.5-10.4 billion tons . A reduction of 6.9-7.8 billion tons isneeded.

It is expected that, after the

strong smart gridconstruction is completed in2020, A carbon emissionreduction of 738 million tonswill be done in the businessarea of SGCC, which is 9%

11% of the carbonreduction target and 24.2%of the carbon reductionpotential of power industry.
