CAOC Interviews - Smaller Lists:

1. Name: Christine Rose Elle

2. Name Of Your Course (and tagline):

Step by Step Makeover: Success with Style (Feel better. Look better. Do the work you love.)

3. How did you come up with the idea for your course?

I wanted to create a course that helps women who might feel overwhelmed by all their various passions to identify their interests, talents and skills and use them in a way to create work they love by teaching them how to use mindfulness to get past any mental blocks or self-worth issues, style and fashion to look great, and finally how to brand it into a viable business. I got the idea from surveying my list, and listening to their pain points.

4. Who is your course for?

Women who are their own brands.

5. How long did it take you to create your course from start to finish?

I started in June and launched in November, so 6 months. It felt like a really long time.

6. Did you face any big challenges (in creating, promoting, launching, anywhere along the journey). Tell us about them and how did you overcome them?

Ok, yes to all. The biggest creation challenge I had was narrowing down the focus. The whole time I was developing the content, I struggled with getting it specific enough to have and end result. It felt really "epic" and no matter how I tried to massage the content, I couldn't seem to let go of any of my darlings completely. Even though I struggled with laser cutting the content, I pressed forward knowing it was too big because I also knew that I didn't want to get stalled. I figured it was worse to not take a step, then to go with a course topic that was too large.

Second challenge, promoting. Even though I surveyed my audience, when launch time came, I think I missed the mark, and it wasn't clear. I had a few die hard people who bought my course because they really like me, but I think my lack of clarity effected how my audience was able to relate to the content. I did some Facebook ads and promoted posts and spent a lot of money, and at the end of the day doubled my list. Which I was psyched about, but I had a tough time converting them.

Visually, my course is amazing. My strengths in creating incredible visual content makes my course like no other I have seen. I really focused on the user experience when I

created my course. Beautiful, simple presentation is what give my work the most value. When my conversion challenges came up, I knew in my gut that I created a quality course so I didn't lose heart. I stepped back, was able to see what needed to be done and am now fixing it. I love my course, and I know it's worth it to go back and reframe it a bit.

7. How did it feel to make that first sale?

As incredible as it was stressful. Since I am pretty new in my Mediaprenuer (TM DSG) journey, I worried too much. Now that I have the first course out of the way, I have so much more experience going into the next one. It's always one of those things, someone can tell you what to do and what not to do, but until you do just do it, you don't know what is really and truly right for your audience. I throw a lot of spaghetti at the wall. LOL!

8. How has creating and selling your course changed your business/perspective (for example a lot of folks LOVE that feeling of waking up with a sale in their inbox totally changes their world and also increased their confidence level)?

Ok, so. This is where the value of learning to create my own online course really came in to play. After going through the process from start to finish completely, I learned so much.-I drilled down who my audience is.-I honed my message.-I learned how to leverage my talents.-I learned some tech that I use across all forms of my business and so I went Pro in ways I never expected.-My credibility and authority in my field leveled up like crazy.-I learned how to show up everyday, willing to be imperfect and create a product that is in line with my values of serenity, simplicity, personal growth, nurturing reciprocal relationships, and daily creative engagement. This was huge. This is what allowed me to create a meaningful product. Now I know how to create other meaningful products going forward.

You have to understand where I was when I discovered Create Awesome Online Course. I knew I wanted to create a course, but had ZERO knowledge about how to do it. I was going to just make a PDF or something. I had no idea about launching a course, how to put one together structurally or technically. CAOC was more than simply the step by step how to. It was my entry and awakening into understanding how to market and sell stuff online. It was a life changer. I know that sounds super dramatic, but for me it is %100 true.

9. What's next for you?

Page 3: CAOC Interviews - Smaller Lists: 1. Name: Christine Rose Elle Step … · 2016-06-30 · Secrets for Ageless Beauty and Timeless Chic that drops later this year. I am also ... I actually

I have another course that will be launching in a few months, Step by Step How to Create a Beautiful Website. Everyone and their best friends asks me about my website, so I am going to share how I set it in in Wordpress.

I also launched a book called Simple Organic Beauty: Easy Recipes for Natural Skincare Products. So I have a follow up book called The Makeover Bible: A Stylist Secrets for Ageless Beauty and Timeless Chic that drops later this year. I am also building up the front end of my beauty portraiture business. Doing makeovers and making women beautiful in photos is my most requested service. So I making Rose Elle Beauty Portraiture a bigger part of my brand.

10. What's your advice to someone who is about to begin on their journey to create, promote & profit from online courses?

To start, see it though and finish at least one course. What I learned by following the steps, and creating the content was surprising. During the course, David gave me a really valuable piece of advice that has really stuck with me. "Ask for help, that is what people are there for." I know that sounds SUUUPPPER obvious, but I really struggling with the tech on something and he was all, "Email their customer support." Oh...duh. Ok. Seriously, sometimes the most simple obvious stuff  is right in front of your blind eyes. That is why we need the expertise of others. They have been through it, then you go through it, and then help someone who wants to go through it. There is a whole bastion of emerging online marketers and mediapreneurs that operate from an authentic, conscious place. David teaches from this place and so do I. I want to be a part of this incredible, living breathing movement. As someone who wants to sell their expertise online, you should too. It's amazing.

11. What would you say to someone who is interested in David's Create Awesome Online Courses program?

I actually made a review video about the course in the hopes that it would help those people who are on the fence take the plunge. To the people who are unsure I say, make an investment in yourself, the quality of your business and learn this skill. Creating online courses is an essential piece of the evergreen, passive income business structure that allows mediapreneurs to make a living doing what they love. This is the course that taught me how to do this properly, and in a way that has integrity and high value. We all say we want to empower each other, well I am most empowered by concrete knowledge. If what we teach is esoteric, it isn't functional or helpful and ultimately it isn't empowering. Clarity, information and doing the work creates the empowerment we seek and share.

Bonus Questions:

1. What was your list size when you launched your course? 650, now it is around 950

Page 4: CAOC Interviews - Smaller Lists: 1. Name: Christine Rose Elle Step … · 2016-06-30 · Secrets for Ageless Beauty and Timeless Chic that drops later this year. I am also ... I actually

2. What is your total revenue generated so far? About 2500. But the next one is going to be more! LOL!

3. Have there been any other 'surprises' that have resulted from launching your course? (i.e. your list grew, you got media/speaking opportunities, etc.)Yes! My level of credibility. This may be partially within, but also in perception. I know I am so much more Pro than when I started. I have a speaking engagement in April, and have made some really cool allies and connections. Thank you a million times David. Hope this helps you!xoxoChristine

2. Name Of Your Course (and tagline):

"THE TOP PRODUCER BLUEPRINT  - The Proven Step-by-Step System to Use Your Mind and Body to Develop Your Real Estate Business Into a Powerful Machine"

3. How did you come up with the idea for your course?

I wanted to create a course that gave real estate agents the shortcuts to developing/ramping up their business while cutting the learning curve dramatically as to what they need to do.  I wanted to use my 22 years experience in real estate sales to show them what's important and what's not.   And I liked the use of the word BLUEPRINT, like a pathway to show them how.

4. Who is your course for?

New real estate agents and agents in the business less than 5 years.

5. How long did it take you to create your course from start to finish?

Honestly, about 3 months.

6. Did you face any big challenges (in creating, promoting, launching, anywhere along the journey). Tell us about them and how did you overcome them?

Marketing!  Marketing!  Marketing!  People love it when I get in front of them and speak about the course, they love the course, it's just getting in front of my people, in person and online to make more sales. So really concentrating on my marketing.

7. How did it feel to make that first sale?

Page 5: CAOC Interviews - Smaller Lists: 1. Name: Christine Rose Elle Step … · 2016-06-30 · Secrets for Ageless Beauty and Timeless Chic that drops later this year. I am also ... I actually

Elated!  Derrick Halpern talks about just find one person/sale and make that person special and that's what I did. I was over the moon!  And that one person said:

“When I started my Real Estate business, I was looking for magic to develop it, therefore I took a course at the Long Beach Expo regarding business planning/marketing. Chris was the speaker and his presentation motivated me in such a way that I purchased his course on site. The Top Producer Blueprint course is designed to teach the principals to start and/or grow a real estate business. It inspired and created positive energy to direct me towards my goals where the sky is the limit. This course satisfied my wishes and I was extremely pleased. I found out there wasn’t any magical way; with this course one can become a magician and do magic every day. “  — Andre Gharibian, Broker, Lawyer, and Professor

8. How has creating and selling your course changed your business/perspective (for example a lot of folks LOVE that feeling of waking up with a sale in their inbox totally changes their world and also increased their confidence level)?

I know it's now possible.  Possible for me to create the life of my dreams, to make ALOT of money, only work with people i love and, most importantly, to be in SERVICE to people.

9. What's next for you?

Getting PAID speaking engagements while promoting my course.   I have given about 12 presentations in the past 6 months to hundreds of people at  a time, but all for free (but making back room sales). Also figuring out now to score more webinars to promote the course as well.

10. What's your advice to someone who is about to begin on their journey to create, promote & profit from online courses?

Simple, buy D's course.  See answer in 11.

11. What would you say to someone who is interested in David's Create Awesome Online Courses program?

Don't think, just buy it. This course showed me the way.  It showed me the mechanics of producing the course and will dramatically cut your learning curve...DRAMATICALLY!  By most importantly, especially for me, the course gives you the CONFIDENCE to make it all happen.

BONUS QUESTIONS:

Page 6: CAOC Interviews - Smaller Lists: 1. Name: Christine Rose Elle Step … · 2016-06-30 · Secrets for Ageless Beauty and Timeless Chic that drops later this year. I am also ... I actually

1. What was your list size when you launched your course?   Approx 50, now its about 400

2. What is your total revenue generated so far?  Approx $8000 (just did my hard launch Jan 1.)

3. Have there been any other 'surprises' that have resulted from launching your course? (i.e. your list grew, you got media/speaking opportunities, etc.)    All the things you'd expect, list grew, more radio interviews, more live speaking gigs, more confidence in explaining my mission and USP (unique selling point).   The most surprising thing though is the wonderful feeling of JOY and HAPPINESS I receive when agents going thru my course ask me questions and I guide them and see their own progress and confidence improve.  It really is a badass feeling to know that your helping others in the world, being IN SERVICE and creating a business out of love and inspiration that really is making a difference to others.  Thank you SO much David for your part in making that feeling happen.   You are an outstanding man and I am grateful to you.

In gratitude,

 Chris

2. Name Of Your Course (and tagline):

GreatStart4Teachers – The Survival Toolkit For New Pre-School Teachers

3. How did you come up with the idea for your course?

The problem with me is not with the lack of ideas but with the abundance of it, which can sometimes (ok, I almost said ‘always’ there) get in the way of making up my mind on ONE idea to work on. So I listed down all my ideas and the different needs of pre-school teachers and picked the one, which I thought would be a good foundation to build on.

4. Who is your course for?

My course is for new early childhood educators, kindergarten teachers, day-care providers or in other words, anyone who wants to work with children between the ages of 2.5-7 years. Having said that, I’ve had people who join my course who have been teaching for years but who still have a positive attitude about learning and to be better teachers than they presently are.

Page 7: CAOC Interviews - Smaller Lists: 1. Name: Christine Rose Elle Step … · 2016-06-30 · Secrets for Ageless Beauty and Timeless Chic that drops later this year. I am also ... I actually

5. How long did it take you to create your course from start to finish?

4 weeks. I know I’m crazy. I lectured at universities and teacher training colleges for quite a few years so developing the course modules, preparing slides and recording the lessons was second nature to me. Also, aside from being a full time mom to two boys, speaking at events, doing in-house teacher training and writing my eBook at the same time that I was creating my course, I didn’t have a full-time job to report to on a daily basis so that meant that I was allowed to work all nights without worrying about falling asleep on my day job.

6. Did you face any big challenges (in creating, promoting, launching, anywhere along the journey). Tell us about them and how did you overcome them?

Not really. There were some hiccups here and there but I was determined to press on and most importantly, I gave myself space to learn and to make mistakes and to fix it. For example, I gave myself a deadline of Dec 1st 2013 to complete my course, which is actually a week before I actually needed to launch it at a conference, which I was speaking at. True enough, there were some setbacks with the website and auto responder and by the time we managed to fix it, it was smack on the day before I was due to launch. We were starting to work out a sweat but we pulled it off. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that creating a course is a walk in the park. I am a non-tech savvy person who only just got a Facebook profile and page last April and (like most human beings) I struggled with all things new but I am not one to complain about it. But that’s what I like best about the community here at CAOC because we are all likeminded in that we are doers and we help each other press forward.

7. How did it feel to make that first sale?

It felt great. Words cant really describe it but let me just try….I jumped up in the air, did a happy dance, threw in a few Gangnam style moves and a moonwalk or two. The first thing I did (after I finish dancing around like an idiot) was to take a screen shot of the email with the PayPal payment receipt and posted it on CAOC to share the good news with my peeps.

8. How has creating and selling your course changed your business/perspective (for example a lot of folks LOVE that feeling of waking up with a sale in their inbox totally changes their world and also increased their confidence level)?

Yes. Totally! But a little different for me. When I wake up and don’t see a sale in my inbox, I’d go into one of those ‘what more can I do’ frenzy. So that’s how I have so much of my work cut out for me since the course has launched.

9. What's next for you?

Page 8: CAOC Interviews - Smaller Lists: 1. Name: Christine Rose Elle Step … · 2016-06-30 · Secrets for Ageless Beauty and Timeless Chic that drops later this year. I am also ... I actually

Lots. My focus this year is on list building and have started podcasting to try to build a connection with the people on my lists. I’ve also listed out 2 million ways to ‘serve’ my peeps and when the time comes, I have plans to start an 8-week virtual boot camp using my course as the foundation.

10. What's your advice to someone who is about to begin on their journey to create, promote & profit from online courses?

Like everything else, this is not something to consider lightly. It is expensive and time consuming and often very frustrating. But if you have the determination to pull through it, like everything else, hard work pays off.

11. What would you say to someone who is interested in David's Create Awesome Online Courses program?

The peeps over at CAOC including myself, would very much love to have David all to ourselves. He takes good care of us, is ever willing to share his brilliant ideas and is seriously funny. If you don’t join us, it is our fortune but if you do, it’ll be the best thing you’ve ever done.

Bonus Questions:

1. What was your list size when you launched your course?53, collected over the past 3 months prior to the launch of the course. Most of them were from participants at workshops and seminars, which I spoke at.

2. What is your total revenue generated so far?$497 usd x 3

3. Have there been any other 'surprises' that have resulted from launching your course? (i.e. your list grew, you got media/speaking opportunities, etc.)

Yes! And I am still waiting for more to roll in over the next few weeks. My list grew from 53 to just over 100. It’s also nice to tell people that I am an online course creator on top of being an early childhood education specialist, certified Montessori teacher, kindergarten teacher trainer/mentor, parenting coach, published author, blogger, writer, podcaster and mom of two boys!

3. How did you come up with the idea for your course?

Page 9: CAOC Interviews - Smaller Lists: 1. Name: Christine Rose Elle Step … · 2016-06-30 · Secrets for Ageless Beauty and Timeless Chic that drops later this year. I am also ... I actually

Funny story (actually it isn't. why do we say that?) I had been hired to create an app for Jon Acuff. It was the week before the launch and I decided it would be a good idea to create an explainer video to go along with the blog post we was doing to officially launch. I started messing around with my editing program and after 3 days, I had a piece of crap video. Then it hit me, I should apply the same method to creating video that I use for creating apps. I did and then less than 48 hours later I had a killer video. Jon posted it, promoted it at several conference and on the Dave Ramsey show and it was a hit! Soooo...I set back a realized how difficult it was to make a high quality explainer video and how expensive they are to hire out ($2-10k at least). At the same time I had seen you promoting your 'course about a course' and decided I should buy it and put this workflow together and teach other people how to do it.

4. Who is your course for?

Entrepreneurs that are on a super tight budget and desperate to grow their business. I keep a picture above my computer of my exact target audience to constantly remind me. It is a picture of me from last year. I wanted out of my day job and was willing to do anything, but I didn't have unlimited amounts of money.

5. How long did it take you to create your course from start to finish?

Way longer than it should have. I started in May and officially launched in October. I Pre-sold the course for those months, but honestly I just kept procrastinating.

6. Did you face any big challenges (in creating, promoting, launching, anywhere along the journey). Tell us about them and how did you overcome them?

As far as technical issues, the most annoying part was the password-protection/membership=-pkugin part. That was surprisingly difficult. It kept giving me reasons to push everything off, I finally ditched WishList and got a simple password protection program. It took 10 minutes to set up and got me past that hurdle.  7. How did it feel to make that first sale?

The best feeling in the world is when I go on vacation or wake up at 2 am, check my email and see that I made another $39y. Euphoric.

8. How has creating and selling your course changed your business/perspective (for example a lot of folks LOVE that feeling of waking up with a sale in their inbox totally changes their world and also increased their confidence level)?

It causes a foundational shift in how you look at business. My entire life I've been in sales. For the past years I've been in outside sales for 2 different companies. Outside sales in the industries I am in have the potential for making $200k+ a year. It's a very lucrative industry. However, the second I stop working I stop making money. The day I decide I don't like that industry anymore and I'm going to start something else,

Page 10: CAOC Interviews - Smaller Lists: 1. Name: Christine Rose Elle Step … · 2016-06-30 · Secrets for Ageless Beauty and Timeless Chic that drops later this year. I am also ... I actually

everything I have done up to that point vanishes. My entire customer base is gone. With a course, it last 'forever'. If tomorrow I decide to go start a picture frame manufacturing business, I'll still be making money every month from the work I've put into Videofruit. The second thing is that your pay is not directly tied to your work. Don't get me wrong, all of these 'passive income' fools that think they are going to work 2 hours a month and make $100k are just silly, but with this business model wether I sell 10 courses this month or 100 courses this month is not directly tied to the number of hours I worked. That is very attractive.

9. What's next for you?

Continue to build out the Videofruit brand. I am converting the course into a book and mult-price point offering. Also, I have added a service element to the business and am excited about helping businesses use video in all types of ways to grow. Every week I publish a 1500+ word formula detailing out a way to use video to grow. Those are super fun and have been instrumental in driving traffic to my site and course. I really enjoy helping people, so its fun to see people use these strategies in the real world.

10. What's your advice to someone who is about to begin on their journey to create, promote & profit from online courses?

Work, a lot. If you don't have hustle, just go get a day job until you find it. You HAVE To be willing to work 80 hour weeks for a period of time to ever transition out of your day job into your dream job. If you aren't just quit lying to yourself and accept your crap job. It's not worth the constant mental anguish and let down of failing. The #1 reason I've seen for failure is lack of hustle. Also, get back up. You're going to fail. You're course might completely bomb...so what? Everyone fails. Thats not abnormal at all. What is abnormal is creating the second and third and fourth course. You have to have persistence. My favorite quote I've run across recently is "You are either working on your own dream or someone is paying you to work on theirs." Think on that for a minute.

11. What would you say to someone who is interested in David's Create Awesome Online Courses program?

First, before you spend $$ on anything make sure you are going to act. I love the course and highly recommend it. But the worse thing you can do is blow $1000 on something you aren't going to use. So step #1 is to make sure you are ready to take action. If you are, quit freaking thinking about it and just buy it. You will make your money back on it in no time.

BONUS QUESTIONS:

1. What was your list size when you launched your course? 0. 4 months later its just over 1300

Page 11: CAOC Interviews - Smaller Lists: 1. Name: Christine Rose Elle Step … · 2016-06-30 · Secrets for Ageless Beauty and Timeless Chic that drops later this year. I am also ... I actually

2. What is your total revenue generated so far? Over $50k (course & spin off services)

3. Have there been any other 'surprises' that have resulted from launching your course? (i.e. your list grew, you got media/speaking opportunities, etc.)

Absolutely, the services portion of the business was completely unforeseen. I've had some amazing opportunities and been able to work on pretty cool projects. Example: I worked on a Mayoral campaign for a guy in Mobile, AL. A video series I produced and managed got him featured on ABC< NBC World News, Business Insider and a slew of other national tv shows. He ultimately won the election as a direct result of our social media video campaigns. That waz huge and has opened up all type of doors. I've also contracted with Neil Patel and KISSmetrics and I produce and film a weekly video series for them (kindvde like Mox's whiteboard Friday). THere has been a ton of other stuff two. It's been wild.
