2.1 Inspection Services

Non Destructive Testing (NDT), particularly when used in combination with alternative access meteorologies, is generally possible whilst the component is in-service, thus reducing and often eliminating the need for expensive shutdowns.

Vertech conduct and specialise in a wide range of inspection services and if required can advise on the most appropriate testing technique for a particular work-scope. Our inspection personnel are highly qualified, skilled and experienced in the application of a wide variety of inspection and testing methods and undergo intensive in house skill gap training to ensure our clients receive first class deliverables and unparalleled assurance in the inspection. Our inspection services include but are not limited to:

• Close Visual Inspection & Remote digital visual inspection (CVI & RDVI)

2.1.1 Process, Plant and Equipment Inspection

Vertech has a proven track record in Process inspections both onshore and offshore that is directed by our integrity engineering department to bridge the gap between inspectors and engineers (see Section 2.5). We provide a complete integrated service, including state-of-the-art equipment and highly trained technicians, inspection engineers and plant inspectors to assist the asset owners aim to achieve optimum production with minimum maintenance costs, without any loss of safety and environmental protection.

2.1.2 Class & Structural Surveys

Vertech have been at the forefront of driving quality, efficiency, and innovations in the class inspection and marine services market working closely with our clients to save cost, drive safety excellence and meet conditions of class with unparalleled efficiency. Classification societies such as ABS, LR & DNV-GL have for many years relied on external marine services specialists to assist their attending surveyors during the class inspection of ships and offshore structures. Our experience gained from working with various classification societies and operators on many different types of facilities allows us to plan and execute surveys that are completed safely, to a high standard and with minimal disturbance to on-board operations. We have been audited and certified by ABS, LR & DNV-GL as external specialists, and regularly assist In rectifying outstanding class issues with our Inspection, maintenance and repair capabilities that include special survey & RBI compliance, structural steel and piping renewals.

2.1.3 Lifting Equipment

Our NATA accredited Lifting Department is dedicated to ensuring our clients equipment remains in compliance with all relevant standards. We do not take this accreditation lightly and have taken competency of our people a step further by training our lifting engineers and inspectors in LEEA and API Crane inspection certification.

Our lifting equipment packages include fixed and loose lifting inspection and recertification, QA/QC and lifting audits, a full range of load testing services or comprehensive lifting equipment management services w compliance database viper. This system enables reports and work packs to be generated at the click of a button while collating the inspection and certification of the item for it’s in service life.

2.1.4 Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

Vertech provide Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to enable close visual inspection of hard to reach areas of plant, process, structure or accessories such as flare stacks, towers and used as a screening tools to build targeted plans for inspection and maintenance campaigns. These have been deployed successfully for major clients across the Australasia region in both the petrochemical, marine and power services market and provide an innovative, safe and cost effective solution to meet many project requirements.

2.1.5 Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV’s)

Geo Oceans a subsidiary of Vertech have developed world-leading innovative mini-ROV technology to provide clients with specialist inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) ROV services and are widely recognised as leaders and pioneers in this field globally. The Mini-ROV Class Survey System (CSS) consists of advanced sensor, tooling and manipulator ROV technology that has been developed by Geo Oceans to provide clients with best in class subsea services, with large cost savings compared to traditional diver and work class ROV methods. Geo Oceans uses this cutting-edge technology to complete subsea work that was previously not possible using mini-ROV systems, such as subsea tooling, cleaning, and positioning and entire vessel class inspections. As a standalone service or a combined topside subsea interface will drive unparalleled safety, cost, time, and interface efficiencies.

2.2 /Commissioning, Maintenance, Upgrade and Repair

2.2.1 Mechanical Services

Vertech offers a wide variety of mechanical services performed by trade qualified Mechanical Fitters. The use of our mechanical capabilities in conjunction with alternative access methodologies services allows a safe and efficient alternative to conventional scaffold access. Our mechanical tradesmen undergo a VOC process to ensure they can perform their trades to the highest level while working within the Rope Access system. Vertech’s mechanical services include:

• Pipefitting

• Spool change outs

• Mechanical and hydraulic fitting

• Flange management and facing services

• Steel erection and deconstruction

2.2.2 Welding and Fabrication Services

Vertech supply experienced and qualified personnel to undertake a diverse range of hot works. Vertech’s coded welders and boilermakers can deliver process and structural repairs and installation efficiently and effectively. Vertech’s experience in this field enables us to deliver these services safely and consistently. Rope Access provides a fast and efficient method of accessing work zones, and with the use of specific risk mitigations hot works become an extremely safe operation. Our welding and fabrication services include:

• Class accredited Weld repairs to hull structures and tanks

• Coded Pipe welding

• Structural member removal and replacement

• Pile patching and remediation

2.2.3 Electrical Services

Vertech offers a wide range of electrical services. By utilizing trade certified Hazardous Area Electricians with alternative access and dual trade certification qualifications, costs, disruption and manning levels can be dramatically reduced thus giving a more efficient service when compared with conventional methods and single skilled tradesmen. Vertech are able to offer the following services:

• Preparation and Maintenance of Client's Ex Equipment Register

• Maintenance of Ex Equipment and Ex Enclosures

• Implementation of Ex Strategies to Comply with Clients Maintenance Plan

• Cabling installation and Cable Management Systems

• Fire and Gas Cable and Detector Installations

Vertech has developed an in-house integrity and inspection management software, viiper.net that can be set up for each facility and used to maintain records of all electrical equipment inspections, aswell as tracking all anomalies and item status data. Viiper can be tailored to suit the specific inspection requirement of each client, including complete inspection frequency management and reporting.

2.2.4 Rigging Services and Solutions

Complex rigging projects have been some of Vertech’s most successful and high profile services. Vertech have a proven track record of delivering these projects to the

highest level of quality in both the offshore and onshore market sectors. Vertech provide a complete package, delivering service from initial inquiry and concept to development of lift plans through to installation or deconstruction. Some of the rigging projects we have delivered in the past include:

Our rigging technicians form highly experienced and driven teams. All of our tradesmen hold nationally recognised rigging qualifications, IRATA rope access or alternative access certification and are subject to specific training and Vertech’s VOC processes using our state-of-the-art training facilities.

Vertech is the supplier of choice in this area reinforced by been selected time and time again to complete some of the most complex rope access rigging and heavy lift rigging in Australia for project such as Greater western Flank, Derrick destruction, North Rankin B hook up and commissioning and the Gorgon LNG plant construction to name a few.

2.3 /Coatings and Fabric Maintenance

Vertech offer a complete range of coating and fabric maintenance services. Our in-house technical experts provide detailed remediation plans and specific coatings systems for each environment. Vertech are pleased to offer the following services:

2.3.1 Coatings Inspection, Remediation and Application

To ensure the effectiveness of any protective coatings system, proper surface preparation is paramount. With this in mind Vertech adopts the latest technology in this area tailored specifically for the environment in which it is to be used to ensure maximum performance within sometimes retricted parameters. With an unrivalled reputation for providing flexible, rapid and reliable alternative methods of accessing the work site, we provide a safe and cost-effective means to carry out fabric maintenance projects offering a combined access and coatings solutions for our clients, including:

• Low dust, dry abrasive blasting

• Ultra-high pressure water jetting

• Traditional dry abrasive blasting

• Concrete repairs / grouting

• Stainless steel passivation

• Cryogenic insulation removal, reinstatement and remediation

2.4 /Specialist Access Systems

2.4.1 Rope Access

Our IRATA certified tradesmen provide intelligent solutions to both routine asset maintenance and technically challenging projects ensuring improved safety and cost efficiency to inspection, testing, maintenance, upgrade and commissioning works. Vertech technicians are ‘best in class’ and handpicked based on not just their trades and access certification but also their attitudes and specific industry experience resulting in fewer mobilisations, increased productivity, more effective implementation services and reduced numbers on site.

Vertech are an accredited IRATA trainer and operator with a large Rope access training facility allowing us to handpick the best suited personnel in industry and ensure that comprehensive Verification of competency can be completed prior to mobilisation.

2.4.2 WEB Deck Systems

WEB Deck is a suspended work platform designed for under-deck areas such as bridges, jetties and offshore facilities. It is quick to install and de-rig, offering substantial time / cost savings over traditional scaffolding. Its lightweight construction reduces manual handling whilst its high load carrying capability makes it suitabl e for a variety of heavy-duty tasks. The ability to fully encapsulate the system makes it possible to create a controlled environment for blasting, painting, hot work and other hazardous activities.

2.4.3 Tension Netting

Tension netting is another specialised service offered by Vertech. It is a dynamic access system that can be quickly

erected and dismantled in areas where access would otherwise be limited to large scaffolding systems. The system is lightweight and minimally affected by wind or water loading.

Our technicians have extensive experience using tension netting systems which allow safe, easy and unlimited access to under-deck areas on ships, platforms, underside jetty structures, bridges, large tanks and most structures where a large span needs to be accessed.

With the netting in place, technicians can offer our full range of services including repairs, welding, cutting, steel renewals, blasting, painting and inspection.

Our technicians can install netting and fall arrest systems and provide assistance for projects where third party specialised expertise is required.

Tension netting systems used in conjunction with rope access / fall arrest techniques offer a safe, effective and economical approach to accessing difficult areas.

Vertech can assist Clients manage their assets by applying best practice engineering principles to develop bespoke solutions. From high-level corporate strategies through to detailed engineering analysis, inspection planning and implementation, Vertech has the capability to provide support at all stages of the integrity management cycle. An effective Asset Integrity Management System (AIMS) employs a holistic, systematic approach that ensures assets are maintained fit for purpose throughout their lifecycle. This ensures assets are able to perform their required function effectively and efficiently whilst minimizing unscheduled shutdowns, risks to personnel, plant and the environment.

2.5.1 Integrity Engineering Services

Across all industry it is essential to ensure plant and equipment is in good condition and fit for purpose as failure of a component can result in human and financial loss and environmental costs. Vertech offers a full range of Asset Integrity Management Services across a broad range of asset types.

Appendix A /Innovation Onshore

A.1 / Gorgon / Construction Project

Location: Gorgon

Scope: Vertech were engaged initially to provide 3 personnel to conduct quarantine inspections from ropes. On realising our capability and the innovative style of our approach to construction & commissioning our scope expanded to supporting and in time overseeing and running turnkey solutions with 95 multi-skilled tradesmen. Recently (March 2016) 100 conventional scaffolders were demobilised from another contractor and replaced with an additional 20 multi-skilled personnel completing:

• Rigging and lift planning & execution

• Mechanical and inspection teams

• Shipping steel removal from modules, PAR’s and PAU’s

• Preservation Scope of Works being completed

• Welding services in GTG stacks

• Mechanical fitting and pipe alignment

• QA/QC on process flange interfaces. Re-facing and gasket replacement where required

• Snoop and leak testing on drains and vents

• Touch up coatings, electrical, inspection (NDT, Coatings, DROPS), carry over works, and punch list items

A.2 / KGP / Karratha Life Extension Berth 2

Location: Karratha Gas Plant

Duration: April 2016 - Ongoing

Scope: Vertech were engaged at KGP as primary implementation contractor for the Early Works on Berth 1 & 3 for the upcoming Marine Lift Campaign as a part of the KLE program. Vertech’s scope was to perform over the side soft-bolting, core drilling, anchor bolt setting and 3D laser scanning of existing rope rails and fenders in preparation for replacement and web decking services saving $556k in direct cost to conventional methods.

Appendix B /Innovation Offshore

B.1 / NRB Platform / Hook up and Commissioning Duration: 2012-2014

Scope: Vertech were engaged initially for a 3 month period with a small team to conduct rope access rigging services which quickly grew to providing implementation services for welding, electrical, mechanical, scaffolding, painting and passivation services. This was due to the efficiencies in cost, time and safety through our service and approach. Our scope evolved to provide 36 personnel for 2 ½ years to the project reinforcing that highly motivated bespoke small teams of specialists could challenge the norm, remove the requirement for a significant tonnage of scaffold and reduce man hours by up to 36% compared to traditional methods. With all this achieved our personnel also had a 100% safety record for the duration of the works and reduced risk to plant and process further rewarding our clients for the methodologies and the forward thinking employed by them.

B.2 / Derrick Deconstruction Location: North Rankin Alpha Duration: May 2014-November 2014

Scope: In the practical delivery Vertech provided technical rigging solutions utilising a Hi-Ab crane mounted on the derrick guide rails, as well as welding and cutting, fitting and electrical trade’s services. The engagement of a multi-skilled and highly motivated team was crucial in the successful deconstruction of the derrick allowing for 16 multi-skilled personnel to replace the proposed 41 man implementation crew.

B.3 / Flare Tip Replacement & Mock up Trials 2016

Scope: The North Rankin Alpha flare tip replacement that was to be completed using combined access (Scaffold and ropes) and a helicopter required careful planning, preparation and custom designed ultra-lightweight scaffold systems capable of holding 2.5 Tons, handrails made of fibreglass and custom lifting solutions. A steel flare tip replica was fabricated to trial these concepts with Woodside and Wood Group in attendance at our school of training and excellence.
