The Lie-Line Capacitr Kit is the all in ne replacement kit r yur singleand dual run capacitr needs. In additin t many single capacitr ratings,this kit has been designed t cver 48 the mst cmmn dual ratings inbth in 370VAC and 440VAC applicatins.

Everything needed t select, wire, and munt the replacement capacitr(s) isincluded in this kit.

This kit saves time and mney by having exactly what yu need n the jband the ability t nly use and replace nly what yu need.

The UL apprved Lie-Line Device (patent pending) gives yu the ability tturn six capacitrs int 48 duals with n guess wrk. With a simple wiringdiagram yu will have the system up and running in n time with the saeand reliable installatin multiple capacitrs using the technlgy parallel capacitrs.

In the capacitr selectin table belw (table 1), simply match the ailedrun capacitr t the replacement capacitrs in the kit. I ne replacementcapacitr will nt directly replace the ailed capacitr, the add n capacitrsectin will shw yu hw t select the crrect cmbinatin capacitrs. Theratings listed n this chart are in micrarads (m). Always replace a ailedcapacitr with the exact micrarad rating. All these capacitrs are rated at440VAC. They will prperly replace any 370VAC r 440VAC capacitr.

Figure C n page 4 shws the munting and wiring diagrams including hw

t wire the Lie-Line Device i needed.

NOTE:DependingonhowmuchroomisavailableintheHVACsystem,itmaybe easier t blt the single r larger capacitr bracket t the system frst. Whenmounting the single or larger capacitor bracket to the HVAC system, it is required touse both #6 x 1/2 Phillips Pan Head Sel Tapping Screws to keep the capacitor(s)rom rotating due to vibration.

Also,aquantityof(4)#6x1/2PhillipsPanHeadSelfTappingScrewsaresuppliedintheCapacitorMountingHardwareKitforeasymountingofbracket(s) and/r device n sheet metal suraces.

When munting a cmbinatin capacitrs, select the brackets that ft the

selectedcapacitorsanddeterminefromthespaceavailableintheHVACsystem hw t cnfgure the munts including the Lie-Line Device.

The addn capacitr can be rtated arund the circumerence the dualcapacitorasneededtotintotheHVACsystem(fg. H).

The Lie-Line Device (LLD) can be munted n either capacitr as needed tft the space allwed (fg. I). Place the LLD bracket n the capacitr desired,abve the capacitr bracket as shwn belw (fg. J).

Place the LLD n the device bracket and bend the device bracket ends thld the device in place (fg. K or fg. L) using needle nse plyers.

BeforeenergizingtheHVACsystem,alwaysconrmallwiringwiththe

systemsschematicandthediagramsprovidedinthismanual.Alsoconrmthat all cnnectins, even the nes nt aected, are clean and secure.

Ater replacing capacitrs, always cnfrm the system peratin including cnfrmatin that vltage and amperage readings all within themanufacturersspecicationonthedataplate.

Capacitr Diagnsis SpprtI a run capacitr is suspect being weak r ailed, there are dierent means diagnsis. The inrmatin prvided here is r RUN capacitrs nly.

oHmS TeST

The hms test will nly determine whether the capacitr can charge and

discharge basically telling yu that the capacitr acts like a capacitr. Thistest will NoT determine actual capacitance r capability.

Using an hm meter set t the highest scale, cnnect the leads the hmmeter acrss the terminals the capacitr. on dual run capacitrs, check(C)to(FAN)or(C)to(HERM)astwoseparatechecks.Leavetheleadscnnected t the capacitr r a cuple secnds. Then simply reverse themeter leads n the tw thermals being checked. A gd capacitr will causethe hm meter t read rm Infnity t zer and back t Infnity. I there is n

mvement n the meter, reverse the meter leads again.

I the meter nly reads zer, the capacitr is shrted and shuld be replaced.

I the meter nly reads Infnity, the capacitr is pen and shuld be replaced.

Capacitr Diagnsis Spprt(CoNTINueD)

CAPACITANCe TeST

This test will determine the actual capacitance and is the best test tdetermine whether the capacitr is gd, weak r ailed. Any singe r multi-purpse tl that can prvide an analg r digital readut micrarads(mf)issuitableforthistest.However,itshouldbeunderstoodthatthesetls may typically read rm 1-5% higher than the actual capacitance asmeasured by the manuacturer the capacitr.

Using a capacitance meter, set t the apprpriate scale. I applicable,cnnect the leads the meter acrss the terminals the capacitr. on dualruncapacitors,check(C)to(FAN)or(C)to(HERM)astwoseparatechecks.Wait a ew secnds r the reading n the meter.

MostcapacitormanufacturersandHVACOEMsspecify6%toleranceonmicrarads (m) the capacitr. I the reading alls utside this rangeand ails t meet the oEM designed perating perrmance, then it shuldbe replaced.
