Water?

1- In the Mediterranean region the pressure on water resources is high, so there is no water to “waste”. 2- It is illusory to believe that any country in the region can cope and meet them on its own.3- Tunisia is a country with relatively limited renewable water resources.Water resources : 4,700 millions m3 of which 650 millions m3 are non renewable resources (13.8%). Only 50% of water resources present salinity below 1.5 g/l, and 16% more than 3 g/l.

Therefore the per capita annual water ratio is only about 450 m3 /year/capita. Rainfall map

- Engagement Eau-Tunis- Water Cluster, implementation?

15 December 2011

Engagement Eau-TunisDecisions taken

Share the information on agenda and current initiatives and opportunities offered in the EU-MED frame (1)

Strengthen the communication, the exchange and the collaboration between the EU-MED networks, (2)

Optimize scientific meetings (seminars, workshops, trainings) to avoid the fragmentation of the efforts and to converge them, as much as possible, to common agenda and objectives. (3)

Improve the governance to work in the emergence of new innovative projects and of future generations of researchers-entrepreneurs and decision-makers in the sector of SWM (4)

List the technological offer of the partners to strengthen the opening to the industrial sector (5)

Strengthen the links for more synergies, complementarity and intensification of actions (6)

Unite and better cooperate to elaborate solutions for local, national and Med contexts (7)
