CAPE LAMBERT POWER STATION DEMOLITION. Location Cape Lambert, WA Client Rio Tinto Duration 12 months Project overview The project involved the demolition and removal of the redundant Cape Lambert Power Station for Rio Tinto, including decommissioning and deenergising the station, friable asbestos removal of boilers, demolition of the boilers, boiler stacks, and removal of all structures to top of ground slabs. Specifically, the scope of works included the removal of asbestos contaminated materials throughout the station and the demolition of the following assets: Turbine hall inclusive of turbines, generators and power station infrastructure Removal of three boiler structures Removal of water intake infrastructure Demolition and removal of three large steel stacks Demolition of control tower building Removal of gas gate structures Miscellaneous site structures Concrete water plume, plinths, slabs and in-ground foundations The stacks were induced collapsed, and boilers weakened and pulled to the ground with a 120t excavator. The works were undertaken with a combination of 2 x 120t, 46t and 36t excavators with shear and grab attachments, 40t moxy, water truck, service truck, telehandler, semi tippers and various sized boom lifts. Project overviewThe project involved the demolition and removal of the redundant Cape Lambert

Power Station for Rio Tinto, including decommissioning and deenergising the

station, friable asbestos removal of boilers, demolition of the boilers, boiler

stacks, and removal of all structures to top of ground slabs.

Specifically, the scope of works included the removal of asbestos contaminated
