They precede a conjugated verb, except for loro and Loro, which follow the verb.

With the exception of loro, indirect-object pronouns governed by an infinitive normally follow the infinitive and are attached to it

If the infinitive is governed by the verb dovere, potere e volere, the pronoun may either be attched to the infinitive or precede the entire verb phrase.

A. When the verb is in a compound tense and an object pronoun precedes it, it is important to know whether the object pronoun is direct or indirect in order to use the correct form of the past participle.The past participle can agree with the preceding direct object pronoun ; it never agrees with a preceding indirect – object pronoun.

B. Some Italian verbs take an indirect object whreas their English equivalent take a direct object

PIACERE e verbi con piacere

It is the subject that determines whether the verb is singular or plural

-A Maria piacciono I dolci , ma la cioccolata non le piace.

When what is liked is expressed with an infinitive, piacere is used in the third person singular even if the infinitive has a plural object.

-Ci piace leggere-Ci piace leggere I fumetti.

Piacere is conjugated with essere in compound tenses; thus its past participle agrees in gender and number with the subject.
