Intro

Black fade into blurred driving w/vo’s of Sweat Dad and Petersohn talking about beach as kids and teenagers.

FTB production title slides Fade back to black Sound of waxing boards fade in to waxing and

paddling out. Quick surfing montage. Paddle in Beach patrol or Security guard saying we have to

leave. Fade to wave and LS of beach w/ title slide

Act 2

Fade out of title and into Teddy Roosevelt quote on importance of national parks.

Montage of Captains and Dad talking about what initially drew them to the beach. How it shaped them.

B roll of people/ tower guards on beach mix in vo’s While B roll is on change vo to me citing scholars

and discussing importance of space in order to shape culture

Move to political discussion of space: Necessity for developing cultures, well being of citizens.

Act 2 cont. Introduce Mayor Kelly to discuss turning point in

beach access: The fight for beach driving Montage news headlines from local papers: Using

highlighter technique and “stacking” on black screen Back and forth between Big John and Dad talking

about the political fight for beach land. Use Captains to add in how the beach was affected

day to day/ protests Vo and shots of me discussing the sons of the

Beaches w/ Dad

Back focus out again and bring back shots of me to discuss other eco property problem areas

Montage other news articles nationally then bring back focus with news headlines more and more from Daytona.

Headlines from Daytona would start with Spring Break and move to beach deaths to most recent deaths

Climax

Loss of Fight to developers. Focusing on how the fight was lost due to turtle

protection and development back room deals

Act 3

Mayor Kelly, Captains, Dad, discuss loss of beach and how it changed due to restricted access.

Back to attorney discussing how legally, beach land has been clarified and exploited. High tide line.

Animations of Arial beach shot drawing each land line for clarification and visualization. Discuss what is actually being fought over. Use highlighter technique

Go for anti climactic feeling.

Act 4

Attorney brings up current Supreme Court Cases Map w/ bullet points and how different states/areas are

handling beach land ownership. Different colors highlighted with different approaches

Quick summation of different styles that cities and municipalities seize land.

Captains, Mayor- local ordinances restricting height/ mandates for off beach parking

Act 4.

Have another aerial shot of Volusia County. Captains discussing current test phase solutions

for beach driving and other ordinances that are in the planning phases to protect beach goers

Call to action Current grassroots movement Not dirty hippies Get a tree to vote-use clip form Evan Almighty

discuss problematic thought process Bring back shots of me to talk about importance of

space, also have Captains talk about beach culture

Shot of me giving call to action CTA involves wanting people to go find their

communities natural beauty and protecting it. Shot of me under the pier again. Use other pictures of nature with the Kony technique

Close with same pier shot, thanking the interviewees

Walk out of shot turn camera to show busy beach then fade to a private beach sign.

v/o saying save it or this could be there the next time you try and enjoy a day outside.
