Note closing date15 July

Girls Golf has got off to a great start this year with competitions and scrambles for golfers of all standards!

Fantastic results from Maebh McLoughlin & Sophie Reynolds in the Connaught Women & Girls Junior Championship-well played girls!

Lessons with our new professional, David McQuillan are helping develop all the necessary skills in line with the Girls for Golf for Life programme from CGI.

We’re planning on introducing ‘Golf Sixes’ over the next few weeks- an initiative from CGI that we are participating in. It’s a scramble format played in 2 person teams, girls, boys & mixed over 6 holes. It culminates in a regional final on 22 August in Tuam. Hopefully great fun to be enjoyed by all!

Our first major of the season took place on Thursday last, when the girls played for Lady Captain, Mary Durcan’s prize to the Junior Girls on the Championship Course on a bright & breezy day. Amongst hot competition, Sophie Reynolds emerged as the 2019 winner! Our next major will be Lady President, Rita Walsh’s prize which will be competed for on 15 July for 18 hole girls, & in Bomore on Saturday 20 July for 9 hole red, 9 hole green, 5 hole green & scramble!

Finally, all the girls wish Maeve Rooney congratulations on her selection for the Connaught team & the best of luck in the interprovincials taking place at Mount Wolseley Hotel and Golf Resort from the 9th to the 11th of July.

Don’t forget- girls can enter the ladies weekly Wednesday competition in Bomore- enter & return scores on the clubhouse computer.
