International trade in greenhouse reductions is now a large

and rapidly growing market. The voluntary carbon market

has been very small in comparison to regulated one, but

is growing rapidly. In fact, private companies not subject

to mandatory limitations and individuals have collectively

committed billions of Euro to buy emission reductions in vo-

luntary markets in the last years. However, there are still

some open questions: what relevance do local voluntary

carbon market standards and project types have in EU and

inItaly?Whataretherealbenefitsforthesmall-medium

enterprises? What are the local potentials? Which are the

local instruments available? This two day-meeting will try to

address some of these relevant questions.
