The PneumoSim is a Digital Breath Sound Simulator that canbe added to any existing CardioSim Digital Heart Sound

Simulator or used as an independent stand-alone instrument.

Each sound is divided in to several elements so students learnto recognize each sound part - one at time - making complexsounds easier to recognize. The user can manipulate eachsound as desired. For example, any adventitious sound canbe placed into any 1/3 of the inspiratory or expiratory cycle.

the Cardionics Low-frequency Speaker System. The SimulScop

Infrared Emitter will accommodate groups of 25-30 while the Au

Sound System can handle from 1 to 500.

Listen to SAM with Your Own StethoscopeSAM presents 27 heart sounds, 21 breath sounds, 20 bowel sounds, 4 carotid bruits and

a carotid pulse timed with the onset of systole. Some heart sounds have breath sounds

included. The sounds are located in the correct anatomical site. Heart sounds are located

at the aortic, pulmonic, tricuspid and mitral areas. Breath sounds are upper and lower

right and left chest and four posterior sites. Bowel sounds are in the upper right and

left quadrants. There is one site for carotid bruits in the neck. Breath sounds can be

diminished at the lower lung while maintaing normal volume at the upper chest to present

a variety of clinical conditions. When listening to a split S2in the pulmonic area, breath

sounds are heard simultaneously. Students learn that S2splits on inspiration and closes onexpiration. Instructors maintain control over the volume at each listening site.

    Identify Systole by Carotid Pulse

    Palpation

When assessing heart sounds, it is essential to

differentiate systole from diastole. Because sys-tole begins with the rst heart sound (S

    1), SAM

has a carotid pulse timed with each rst heart

sound. Students palpate SAM's carotid pulse

    while listening to heart sounds.

    The key to Patient Assessment

Students access SAM On-Line 24/7 from any PC connected to the Internet. Repeti-

tion assists students in learning, relearning or refreshing their auscultation skills.

SAM On-Line has same sounds as SAM. Comparison of sounds is available and

    easy to access.

Phonocardiographic Display. SAM II presents a phonocardiogramwith every heart sound. Instructors project the phonocardiogarms for full audi-

ence viewing. When heart and breath sounds are heard simultaneously, two

    channels are displayed.

    PneumoSim Digital Breath Sound Simulator

The optional PneumoSim Digital Breath Sound Simulator op eratesin a manner similar to the CardioSim System. Wheezes, crackles, rubs, etc. can be added to any part of the inspiratory or expiratorycycle. I-E ratio, position of adventitious sounds, pause, respira-tion rate are easily controlled or changed to illustrate diseaseprogression. Various conditions such as asthma, emphysema, atelectasis, etc. are included.

Cabinet Model CardioSim VII Digital Heart Sound Simulator

After listening to simulated heart sounds, the student can hear severalexamples of the same sound from real patients. These real soundsdemonstrate how the sound changes with varying degree s of illness. For example, the instructor or student can play mild, then moderate, then severe mitral stenosis from the Real Sounds Library.

    .

Veterinary Sounds OptionFor Veterinary Medicine, the optional VetSim Digital Veterinary SoundSimulator offers a special menu of heart sound programs. With

these programs, the instructor or student has the ability to controlboth heart and respiration rates independently and at rates higherthan found in humans.

Simulated SoundsThe CardioSim allows instructors and students to listen repetitivelyto all or any part of a complex heart sound. While listening, murmurs, clicks, etc. can be added, removed, amplified and/orattenuated so the student learns to recognize each sound.

Sounds, 20 Bowel Sounds and 4 carotid bruits all heard at the correct anatomical sites. A carotid pulse is palpatedwith all Heart Sounds. Special Heart Sound Testing Modules are available for testing and exam preparation.

SimulScope Bedside Auscultation SystemFor bedside teaching, the SimulScope is a small, portable, batt ery-operated, and wireless infrared tran smitter that

saves time at the bedside with minimal patient disturbance. The instructor and students hear sounds simultaneously

with wireless HeartMan Infrared Headphones. The SimulScope can be used for group instruction with SAM as shownabove, at the bedside or in telemedicine applications.

Self Teaching & Testing SystemFor self-teaching and testing, the UTMB Auscultation Self-Teaching System (STS) guides the student to prociency

in cardiac auscultation with a series of four computer lessons, an auscultation evaluation program and a student textworkbook. Students listen with their own stethoscope and palpate the carotid pulse. Developed and tested at the Uni-versity of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, STS instructs and tests students at their own pace with minimal instructortime. During its use at UTMB, a thr ee fold improvement in prociency was not ed.

Learning Cardiac Auscultation - Interactive On-LineCardioSim customers and their students can access the Cardionics web site (wwww.cardionics.com), log-in with

the apppropriate password and learn Cardiac Auscultation using any PC computer that is connected to the Internet.

There are 24 heart sound programs complete with text, a learning program, and three quizzes from novice to advancedto a quiz developed by the course instructor.
