A&E Medical Corporation manufactures a complete line of monofilament, 316L stainless steel sutures perfectlysuited for sternotomy closure. A&E Medical has developed an especially flexible and pliable suture wire which offersthe following advantages when compared to other stainless steel sutures:

Wire More Resistant to Breakage:The increased flexibility makes the wire more resistant to breakage during tightening and twisting.

Better Approximation of the Sternum:The increased flexibility allows the wire to conform more closely tothe contours of the sternum than other less flexible wires. This closerconformance to the sternum allows the wire to achieve a more evendistribution of the forces required to maintain a proper sternalapproximation. With the forces more evenly distributed, there arefewer areas of concentrated pressure that could be potential areas ofpost-operative wire tear-through. The end result is a more stablesternal approximation.

Meets All Specifications for Suture Wire:MYO/WIRE™ II meets all the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) F138, F899, & F1350 specificationsfor special quality, implant grade, surgical fixation suture wire. The specially engineered wire meets all the require-ments for yield strength, elongation, and tensile strength yet is more flexible, more pliable and easier to work withthan other wires.
