Career and College Promise

Career and College Promise provides a seamless dual enrollment educational opportunity for eligible North Carolina high school

students in order to accelerate completion of college certificates, diplomas, and associate degrees that lead to college transfer or provide

entry-level job skills.

There are two central pathways for the program:

Eligibility Requirements for Career Technical Education (CTE) Pathway

*High School Junior or Senior

*2.8+ Unweighted High School GPA

OR

*Demonstrate College Readiness on Approved Assessments

in English, Reading, and Math.

Principals (or their designee) may still submit a waiver to allow a student entry into a CTE pathway. If a waiver is submitted, the principal (or their designee) will need to

provide a rationale for why the GPA requirement was waived.

CTE pathways that include UGETC (Universal General Education Transfer Component) courses will not be eligible for the principal waiver/designee waiver for entry into

the CCP program.

The North Carolina Community System has an articulation agreement with all state colleges/universities & most private colleges/universities. Some of the more selective private colleges/universities are not part of the

agreement, so always check with their Admissions Office first concerning articulation.

Dual Credit AllowanceMany of the college transfer courses satisfy high school graduation requirements. Students will receive both high school and college

credit!

Example:ENG 111 + ENG 112 + ENG 231 or 232 = ENG III graduation

requirement and the student receives 9 credit hours of transferable college coursework.

CCP ORIENTATION

Prior to enrolling at SCC, CCP students will complete an orientation on campus.

There is a CCP orientation each Fall, Spring, and Summer Semester.

CCP Student Fees

It’s tuition-free; however, high school students must pay for fees, book(s), and other supplemental materials! Fees are $47.35 per

semester. Not per course.
