visitors about the scientific features of natural areas.• Wage: $40,000 per year.• Education: Bachelor’s degree is forestry, environmental science, or wildlife

management.

MY REACTION: This job would require me to educate people about the environment. The fact that my surroundings wouldn’t be a classroom but rather a park or nature center attracts me to this particular career.

MY REACTION: This job would fulfill my work values, and my desire to help others. It would also satisfy my ongoing curiosity when it comes to psychology. Also, I could see myself being a school psychologist because I have both a very social and investigative personality.

• A Day In The Life: teaching a specific grade or a specific subject, creating lesson plans tailored to the overall ability of their students, grabbing the students’ attention and engaging them, advising some sort of extra-curricular activity.

• Major Associations: the American Association of Colleges for teacher Education, the American Federation of Teacher, and the National Education Association.

• Related Majors: child care, art education, and sociology.

MY REACTION: Being a teacher would be something I’d be very good at because I am a naturally sociable person and I enjoy helping people. I feel that being a teacher would be a very rewarding job, especially teaching a subject I enjoy. However, I would also be interested in teaching young children as well.

MY REACTION: Working with animals is something I’m very interested in. I also like biology and science, therefore I don’t think I would be bored with the research I would have to conduct. Lastly, I am both an investigative person and a person who values achievement. I feel this job would satisfy both traits.

school. For example, they may require a master's degree, and some require a Ph.D., M.D., or

MY REACTION: I personally believe one’s mental health is one of the most important aspects to someone’ s life. If I can help maintain peoples’ mental health, that would be great. I thoroughly enjoy helping people and that is why this job is definitely something I could see myself doing.

MY REACTION: This career involves preventing peoples’ health problems, and working with the environment. I like this combination because I want to be able to help people and make a significant contribution to the world. In my eyes, maintaining to environment and keeping it safe for people is a pretty significant contribution. :

The Career That Most Appeals to Me is a…

Being a park naturalist allows for the perfect balance between working with the environment and educating people. If I don’t have to be in a classroom, then I won’t. Being a park naturalist, I’ll be able to walk around at my own pace and educate people on something I thoroughly enjoy learning about myself.
