What would have helped for you after the death of your loved one?
Help with discussing/arranging the funeral , family involvement and discussions about End of Life Decisions. These should have happened before death.
Someone making contact in a meaningful, supportive way soon after the death and then keeping contact.
Recognition that I need help working through my emotions- ‘no longer a carer’ who am I? What is my future?
Help with my finances, What happens after the benefits stop?
Some sort of group or therapy to help me cope with my grief and loss.
Support for the children in the family, before death, what is expected? After death- help with dealing with their emotions in an age related way.
(Please note that often children contribute to and provide unpaid care at the End of Life, please be mindful of young carers and ensure they are being identified and appropriately supported).
