Overview: Language Selection
Language Selection
The application will open in the default language. The user can select English, Spanish, or French for the web application interface.
There are three possible locations where the language setting may be made:
• on the login page,
10 CARIS Spatial Fusion Viewer Help Guide
Overview: Language Selection
• on the user profile page
• on the map page
All users will be able to see the main map page, but the other two pages may not be visible, depending on how the web application was configured.
Changing the language on the map page will always change the language for the current session, which ends when you log out or exit the web application.
CARIS Spatial Fusion Viewer Help Guide 11
Overview: Language Selection
Changing the language on the Login page will have different results, depending on whether the language for your username has been set on the Profile page.
• If it has not been set, changing the language on the Login page will be in effect for the current session only.
• If it has been set, changing the language on the Login page will have no effect after login.

Overview: Logging In
Logging In
Opening the web application is done differently depending on your user role. For installations with public access, the log in screen shown below will not appear when navigating to http://host:port/spatialfusionviewer/mapViewer/map unless you click the Login button.
When the login is required or requested a username and password will be required.
The privileges and features available to you may be different depending on the configuration provided for your use.
When logging in:
1. Type the Username and Password.
2. Click Login.
If you are not authenticated, you will be prompted to log in again. Once the correct username and password have been entered, the application will open.
CARIS Spatial Fusion Viewer Help Guide 13
Overview: Logging In
For users with public access not requiring a password, the web application will open directly with a map view. An example of this view is shown below.
More detail about the parts of the interface can be found in the remainder of this document.

Overview: Forgot your Password?
Forgot your Password?
If you forget the password assigned to your account, you may be able to gain access to your account and update it with a new password if this function is activated for the configuration you are using. The email address you enter must match the one stored in the system.
1. From the login page, select Forgot your password? if it is visible.
The Forgot your Password message box is displayed.
2. Type your Email address in the text field.
3. Click Submit.
The system sends an email with a temporary “confirm change” password to your account. It may take a few moments for your email server to finish sending the update information to your email address.
4. [Optional] To return to the main login page without submitting your email address, select Cancel.
If the email server has been configured, an email is sent to your email account.
5. From your email account, select the “Reset your Password” email.
6. Click the link within the email or copy and paste the link into the Address (URL) field in your browser and press <Enter> to confirm you want to change the password.
Another email with the subject line, “Your New Password”, is sent to your email account. This email contains a system-generated password. This password is now recorded in your user profile as the accepted password. If you wish to change it to

• Queue: Extract and download the selected data.
The fields in each of these sections are described in the table below.
Section Description
Search A list of the feature layers and coverages corresponding to the search filter.
You can filter the number of layers listed by typing a value in the search box. For example, if you type “symbols”, only the layers with the word symbols in the name are displayed.
The method of accessing the data is indicated by the icon on the left of the layer name. WCS indicates that the data is a coverage, WFS indicates that the data are features.
The Reset button can be used to clear the search filter and change the view to the full extents of the data. If the theme has a bounding box specified, these extents will be used, otherwise the world map is used.

Points of Interest
A point of interest (POI) is a method of displaying supplementary geospatial data on top of a map in point format .
If there are no POIs on the maps that you are using, it is because no layers with POIs have been made available for you to view. If they are available, the POI symbols will indicate the location of these features on the map. A variety of POI symbols may be used.
When a POI is clicked, the information is displayed in a balloon.
The POI information bubble can be closed by clicking the X in the upper right corner of the bubble.
