Introducing Carotino
Animal Feed (CAF100)Healthy, sustainable nourishment for animals
Introduction
• Carotino Animal Feed is produced by the Carotino Group, a vertically
integrated company which owns and manages thousands acres of
RSPO certified, environmentally sustainable oil palm plantations, plus oil
mills and a dedicated refinery in Malaysia.
• Fat is the most economical source of energy concentrate for animal feed
and Carotino Animal Feed (CAF100) has a high proportion of palmitic
acid with 99.5% fat content.
• CAF100 is a specially formulated high energy feed fat that offers a
significant source of natural nutrients (carotenes, tocotrienols and
tocopherols) for the same cost effective price as a basic, no frills, low
nutrition feed.
• Carotino has full GMP+ Food Safety Assurance for the
production of feed materials, feed ingredients and fat granules.

International Accreditations
• Like most Carotino products,
CAF100 comes from RSPO
certified plantations.
• It is produced in factories which
meet the highest international
standards of production.
• CAF100 has full GMP+ Food
Safety Assurance for the
production of feed materials, feed
ingredients and fat granules.
Case Study – Adding CAF to Chicken Feed
• Fortifying the diet of chickens with carotenoids supplements has been shown to increase
the presence of this nutrient in egg yolks. However, because of the relative expense, it
has not been seen as a commercially viable option.
• Prof. ASJ Benade of Cape Peninsula University of Technology, South Africa, oversaw a
16-week study to measure the effects of adding CAF100 to chicken feed in terms of the
increase in the carotene and Vitamin E content of eggs.
• 900 chickens of the same age were used in the experiment and the layers were divided
into three groups of 300. The first group ate standard chicken feed, the second group ate
feed with 1% added CAF100 and the third group ate feed with 2% added CAF100.
• The carotenoid, tocotrienol and tocopherol
content of the eggs was measured at the end
of each phase of the experiment. (After 12
weeks in Phase 1 and 4 weeks in Phase 2)
• The results showed that when 2% CAF100 is
added to standard chicken feed, the carotenoid
content of eggs was boosted by 14-18%.
Case Study – Fattening Pigs in Lithuania
• A study was carried out by a
company called Kaisiadoriu
Agrofirma in Lithuania to
determine the efficiency of
CAF 100 for fattening pigs.
• During the 2.5 month
experiment, three parallel
groups were made up and
given different food to eat.
Two groups had their diets
supplemented with CAF100.
(See upper table.)
• The results showed that pigs
fed with CAF100 showed
significant weight gain. (See
lower table.)
Case Study - Malaysian Zoo Trial
Animal Adventures, a company which trains and shows
animals at Malaysian zoos, took part in a 4 month
‘fattening’ trial using CAF100.
• All the birds in the trial were full grown adult specimens
– cockatoos, macaws and flamingos.
• CAF100 was added to their feed once a day.
• The level accounted for 4% of each bird’s body weight
- just a pinch for some of the smaller specimens.
• At the end of the trial, the goal of fattening the birds was
achieved and almost all were found to have fuller
bodies and gained significant weight.
Commitment to Sustainability
• Carotino Animal Feed is produced using red palm fruit oil
from RSPO certified, environmentally sustainable
plantations which uphold the highest international
production standards.
• Carotino is a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable
Palm Oil and has the ability to produce palm oil products
which are either RSPO Mass Balance, RSPO Certified,
RSPO Segregated and even RSPO Identity Preserved,
depending on customer requirements.
