We are CartonLAB, an eco-design and forward thinking studio founded in 2009 in Spain. In 2016, we have begun launching operations in the USA. We are a team of ten people with very diverse experiences and backgrounds. This team has imagined, created, and executed over 300 projects around the world.
Our inspiration and core expertise comes from the field of Ephemeral Architecture. These are layouts and arrangements thought to last for a brief period of time having a minimal impact on the environment; we have this concept in mind at all times. Through our research and testing, we have mastered the material of cardboard; becoming an industry reference in the process.
We design for trade shows, fairs, exhibitions, interiors, and all types of business events. Our creations give our clients a point of differentiation, which are exclusive and easy to assemble. There are no screws, no glue, no extra material required, just cardboard. All the materials used are 100% recycled, recyclable, and manufactured in America.

CONCEPT POP-UP STOREMUNICH POP-UP STORES in Barcelona (Spain)/ Florence (Italy) 2015
3 POP UP STORES for the sports shoes brand MUNICH, designed by the Barcelona firm Studio Animal. CartonLAB carried out the production and structural design of all elements.
For this campaign, three locations were strategically chosen by the brand: -Stand: Uomo Trade Show (Florence). -Pop Up Store: La Roca Village (Barcelona) Shopping Mall. -Pop Up Store: The Machinist (Barcelona) Shopping Mall.
To achieve this tremendous visual impact, we have blended brand concept, architecture, graphics, and products roster in this design.

CSR MARKETPLACE
BG Group/ FORÉTICA. Trade fair Show 45 Exhibitors. Madrid, Spain (2015)Awarded Best modular stand and nominated for Best Eco-friendly, reusable and recyclable stand
This is the main event on Corporate Social Responsibility in Spain. It brings together more than 50 solutions from 45 organizations across all industries.
We carried out the design, production and installation of 35 stands occupying most of the Convention Hall in Madrid. Cardboard gave us the flexibility for the design of the curved elements in this s-shape bookshelf in which each company had a customized space.

TOURISM TRADE SHOWRegión of Murcia exhibition in FITUR trade fair Show. Madrid (Spain) 2015
Architects Jaume Blancafort and Patricia Reus, in partnership with ARENA THEATRE, designed this fabulous 300 sq. ft. stand for the region of Murcia in FITUR (Tourism Trade Show).
We carried out the production and structural design. Furniture, banners and other elements were displayed in cardboard. All material was recycled after the event.

The end game of this design was to provide multiple meeting points, to conduct workshops and speaker sessions, while the products were displayed. This challenge was posed by ASUS.
They carried out this event in Spain to boost home technology awareness. It was delightful to observe the engagement of participants in the discussions while blending with ASUS products.

DESIGNING FOR KIDSCHILDREN CITY. Interior Design for Concept Store / Mónaco (2015) / Wien (2014)
We designed two 800 sq. ft. retail floors for the store Children City. Cardboard was included in the decorations, little houses, chairs, shelves etc...
Designing creatives spaces for children and parents is one of our favorite things to do. We used circa over 300 different pieces of corrugated cardboard for this project.

SHARING EXPERIENCE
We actively participate in spreading the word about creativity and sustainability values and how design can become a big contributor. For that, we seek institutions, companies, and groups who share our motivation.
Our involvement includes workshops in design, green business ventures, startups, creativity, digital fabrication, and prototyping. Academia, Design Schools, and Fab-Labs have extended invitations to share what we know about Ephemeral Architecture, Furniture Design, and cardboard use.
A few of the places we have visited: Bartlett School of architecture (London), University Toulouse-Lautrec (Lima), Santiago de Chile DUOC, Cerezales Foundation (León), Matadero (Madrid) and Technical School of Architecture (Madrid).

SOME OF OUR WORKBusiness partners
SPREADING OUR DESIGNS
By 2015, we created 300 projects. Our work has been shown in Spain, England, Germany, Switzerland, Monaco, Chile, Peru, and now the USA.
Our business partners are communication agencies, marketing departments, event organizers, and public institutions. Projects range from big companies (Microsoft, Google) to nonprofit institutions (Llaollao Biodiversity Foundation) and governments (Ministry of the Environment in Peru).
