FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
INDEPENDENCE DAY 2018
SANSKRIT WEEK CELEBRATION
"The true teachers are those who help us think for ourselves."
Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
The word education literally means „to draw out‟ in Latin which is the most important
quality displayed by the teacher as she encourages the students to deliver their best. Dr.
A P J Abdul Kalam, one of the greatest educationist says, “Teachers are the backbone of
any country, the pillar upon which all aspirations are converted into realities”. Like
sculptors, they mould and guide the young minds to spread their wings to reach for the
stars. In the midst of all the new methodologies of teaching, technology and learning
styles of students, teachers play an indispensable role as they ignite and impact the
young minds by facilitating and giving the freedom to think, ask questions, explore and
imagine in the learning process. Parents also play an equally important role as the initial
teachers as they encourage and expand the child‟s learning in their journey to prosper
and succeed.

THE TALE OF THE PENCIL
There was a boy named Raj. One day Raj
looked upset when he came back from
school because he had scored less in his
English test. His grandmother sat with him
and gave him a pencil. A puzzled Raj
looked at his grandma and said he didn‟t
deserve a pencil after his performance in
his test. His Grandma explained, “You can
learn many great things from the pencil
because it is just like you. It experiences a
painful sharpening, just the way you have
experienced the pain of not doing well in
your test. However, it will help you to be a
good student. Just as all the good that
comes from the pencil is from within
itself, you will also find the strength to
overcome this hurdle, and finally just as
the pencil will make its mark on anything
you choose to.” Raj was immediately
consoled and promised himself that he
would do better.
Moral of the story
We all have the strength to be who we
wish to be.

MY GRANDPARENTS
My grandparents are very special to me.
When I am with my grandparents, I feel
so good. It‟s the best time ever. They tell
me many things which I have never seen
or done. They always remember to wish
me during my exams or any competitions.
My grandmother knits beautiful sweaters
for me. She even showed me how to knit
woollen clothes. I found that very
fascinating. I love to hear stories from
them about their childhood.
My grandparents are in love with nature.
When they were children they used to
play under the trees, pluck fruits and
drink water from the well. I too want to
experience all of it. They told me that it
is possible only if we plant more trees.
Every year, I sow many seeds so that it
grows into a big tree. One day, there will
be birds building nests, there will be fruits
and it will provide shad to several living
things.
