HYDRAULIC OIL FILTERS (Continued)

7. Install a new gasket on filter manifold and install the assembled unit into the torque tube with bolts and washers. Torque bolts 35 to 42 ft. Ibs. (48 to 57 Nm). Install drain plugs.

8. Remove fill cap located on top right hand side of the PTO housing (See Page 24) andadd3 Gallons (11.4 liters) of clean Case TFD fluid. Install filler cap. Start tractor and run at low RPM for approximately 5 minutes to fill the filter cavity and filters. Check for leaks and that the transmission filter pressure gauge pointer on the instrument panel is in the green operating zone.

Bleeding Procedure

With the engine running at 1000 to 1500 RPM, turn the steering wheel to hard right and left several times to purge the steering system. Check the brake system by depressing the brake pedals. If a spongy reaction is noted, the brakes must be bled. Open the R.H. brake bleed screw, located above the R.H. axle housing, wide enough for fluid to form a spout and flow until free of air bubbles. IMPORTANT: Slowly depress the brake pedal fully. Close the bleed screw with the pedal depressed completely and slowly release pedal completely. Repeat the procedure several times to assure that all of the air is purged from the system. Repeat this procedure for the L.H. brake.

DIFFERENTIAL LOCK

Your tractor is equipped with a differential lock that will turn both wheels at the same speed. This prevents the usual loss of power when one wheel is slipping and the other wheel has traction.

ENGAGING THE DIFFERENTIAL LOCK:

When one wheel starts to slip or whenever desired, engage the differentiallock by depressing the differential lock pedal located on the platform beneath and rearward of the brake pedals.

IMPORTANT: The front wheels should be in the straight ahead position when engaging or disengaging the differential lock. Always disengage the differential before turning the tractor.

CAUTION: DO NOT OPERATE THE TRACTOR AT HIGH SPEEDS OR ATTEMPT TO TURN THE TRACTOR WITH THE DIFFERENTIAL LOCK ENGAGED.

Figure 48

DISENGAGING THE DIFFERENTIAL LOCK: When one or both brake pedals are applied, the differential lock

will disengage.

DUAL REAR WHEEL MOUNTING

When dual wheels are desired for certain working conditions, the inner wheel may be dished in and the outer wheel dished out or both may be dished in or out on the 120" (3 048mm) long axle. On the 96" (2 438.4mm) short axle, the inner wheel must be dished in and the outer wheel dished in or out.

The rear duals may be used with two cast iron wheels or one cast iron and one fabricated (Stamped Steel) wheel. The fabricated wheel must always be on the outside. NOTE: Do not apply wheel weights when using fabricated wheel.

Additional maximum tread spacing on long axle may be obtained by using spacers with the fabricated outside wheels. Each spacer is 10" (254mm) in width. For dual tread spacings, See Page 15.
