Case Study Indorama Ventures at NPE2018The Plastics Show

Indorama Ventures is a world-class chemicals company and a global integrated

leader in PET and fibers serving major customers in diversified end-use markets. The

company offers a wide range of petrochemicals products in the categories of feedstock, PET,

packaging, fibers and recycled products.

Home base: Bangkok, Thailand

Fun Fact: Founded in Thailand in 1994, the company has expanded its global reach over the years through

acquisitions in the United States and Europe.

For Indorama Ventures (Indorama), the NPE plastics show is one of the biggest events on its trade show agenda. Due to the massive attendance at the show, Indorama always uses its largest exhibit at NPE. When it came time to plan for NPE2018, the company wanted to make a splash with a new trade show exhibit, which brought them to The Trade Group’s door.

Indorama had several priorities in mind when planning for the new exhibit, including:

• Accommodate several different companies and locations in one space.• Bring multiple “not-so-exciting” products (packaging and bottles) to life.• Create a space with a bright, open feel and plenty of seating.

Mission Accomplished: Branded design elements, high-techproduct displays, plenty of seating and MORE.

Planning for the booth started a year in advance, during which The Trade Group presented several iterations of the exhibit for the client to consider. Together, Schroeder and The Trade Group homed in on a design that best utilized the space and met Indorama’s goals. Highlights include:

Bold, open, colorful exhibit design with architectural features.

The 20’x40’ custom trade show exhibit was packed with branded elements and stunning architectural features throughout. Since it was essential to spotlight the five different companies under the Indorama umbrella, a list of the company names was featured in graphics visible from every vantage point – including the reception desk and on multiple walls. The exhibit also featured two jaw-dropping architectural features:

• An 11’-tall bridge structure to help define thespace and add visual interest.

• A stunning, 15’-tall L-shaped corner wallstructure, including a 3.25’ wide “ceiling” above, pocket lights, panel graphics, Plexiglas insertswith semi-transparent, branded graphics anddramatic, backlit fabric graphics on each end.

High-tech product displays and Digital Display Blocks with custom video.

One of the things the client liked best about the exhibit was the use of video technology. The space included Transparent LED Product Display Boxes and a video wall built out of dimensional Digital Display Blocks that made Indorama’s products (packaging and bottles) pop.

Both the Transparent LED Product Display Boxes and the video wall (Digital Display Blocks) included custom videography that brought both Indorama’s brand and its different product lines to life. The Digital Display Blocks also provided an unexpected visual element, because the individual boxes were arranged in an unusual pattern, while the video itself was all tied together.

According to Schroeder, “We’re in the plastics industry and not experts in the latest and greatest in I.T. This technology was really helpful to us, not only to display our products but to make them more exciting and fluid for the customer base.”

Plenty of seating, branding and other special touches.

With five distinct companies – and their products – being represented, the space needed to include separate spaces where company reps and customers could chat. It was also essential that Indorama’s brand was highly visible throughout the space. The space included:

• Varied seating options. Seating was positioned in differentsettings, including comfy, lightweightSmart Chairs and traditional face-to-facecounter seating with high-top stools.

• Greenery, greenery and more greenery. To help define the space – while maintaininga fresh, open feel – several plants and plantboxes were positioned throughout the exhibit.

• Branding galore. Custom, branded carpeting with theIndorama logo and large, 3-D logospositioned atop each exterior wall of theL-shaped corner structure heightened brandawareness from floor to ceiling. For graphics, the design team also utilized images fromthe client’s library of products to reinforce thebrand and boost familiarity.

• Lighting effects. To ensure different exhibit features, brandingand graphics popped, the design teamincluded downlighting, accent lighting andbacklit fabric graphics throughout the space.TTG even lit up the reception counter with LEDs.

• Discreet storage closet covered inbranded graphics. What large trade show exhibit doesn’tneed a secure space to stash valuablesand supplies? The Indorama exhibit’slocked storage space did double duty, dueto branded graphics covering all sides.

The results? Lots of booth traffic and a happy client.

According to Schroeder, attendees were very complimentary about the booth and its bright, open design. Visitors also told Schroeder, “We need to go bigger next time, because we’ve got so much traffic. It’s been one of our busiest shows.”

As for working with The Trade Group, Schroeder says, “Working with The Trade Group has been a great experience for us. They were very patient with us and very good with taking our ideas and making them into a reality. I had very specific ideas about the booth and what I wanted, and they improved on what I wanted. We’re pleased.”
