ENERGY SAVING Devices

• Ever since Energy crisis started, it created opportunity for many company trying to produce energy-saving magic boxes.

• Most attempt to sell their magic boxes with PQ slogan (built-in TVSS & PF Caps)

• Tend to Guaranty 5 to 30% saving in cost.• ……………..• Will the magic box saves energy? Yes & No…

• Improved power factor• Reduced harmonics• Improved voltage imbalance• Reduced electrical current levels• Cooler device operation• Prolonged motor and other device life• Improved voltage level (higher or lower)• Quick payback• Improved energy efficiency• Claimed to save 10%, 20%, or even 30% energy cost reductions

are common

Common Claims for Energy Saver

Case Study.• Building owner had prior test on some 5 different

brands of Energy Saver Devices and was convinced on savings

• Management need justification, data, documentation & require 3rd party evaluation on energy-monitoring.

Method & connections- Each “Energy Saver Module” was wired in between to

Fluorescent Lamps load – 3 Phase of 14 units per phase of 36 watts lamp (brand new units)

- Common Mains supply source to all (3x ESM) test- Power Monitoring with Energy Saver Module Installed- Power Monitoring without Energy Saver Module were

done separately but using the same sets of Lamps Load

Fluorescent lamps (3phase x 14)
