The latest news fromThe Parish Council has made a number ofimprovements to the village this quarter. The Staon Road parking area was re-stoned as mud was coming through andMilton Keynes Council wouldn’t fund this.We have a new Noce Board, replacing

the one that was destroyed by thelandscaping contractor. This wassubstanally funded by their insuranceaer threatening legal acon. We alsofunded the new Lile Free Library thoughthe Ward Councillors will reimburse us.The work at the Dips, aer our long-term

pressure on MKC, seems to have kept itclear of excess water despite the recentheavy rain. Please let us know if you find itblocked. We also commissioned, at very modest

cost, a schemacmap of the village which isincluded in this issue and available todownload from the website. We will put iton a plinth to match the medieval village

plaque on the wall by the Noce Board. TheParish Council has been successful inobtaining a grant that will part fund replacingthe subfloor at the village hall which iscrumbling in places. This work will be done inPre-School half term in February. We havedecided in principle to buy two defibrillatorsfor the Sports Ground and Village Hall. The Remembrance Day service was well

aended again this year. The wreath was laidon behalf of the village by Mark Bailey whohas previously served in the Army. The ParishCouncil is considering the replacement of themodern style bench by the Memorial with a“Silent Soldier” style bench.I aended the naonal conference for

Parish Councils which was held in MK thisyear. One of the themes was loneliness andthe Parish Council is offering free use of thevillage hall and any costs on Tuesdayaernoons for teas if volunteers will run it.Councillor Russell Forgham is organising this

for a 20mph limit along North Street andSouth Street. I know some people weredisappointed that the whole villagecouldn’t be included but MKC advised usthat it wouldn’t qualify. The feedback isthat we have scored well and we awaitMKC’s decision. Councillor Dave Hinds andI connue to operate the Speed Indicatorand pass the informaon to the police. Our new Special Constables have carried

out enforcement based on our data.Recently, vehicles were stopped in StaonRoad and reported for excessive speed. Allvillage entrances will be enforced.MKC have passed a Public Space

Protecon Order making it an offence notto pick up aer a dog on ANY public spacein the Borough. This includes footpathsand, of course, Castle Field. The fixedpenalty is £100.A Planning Inspector, hearing Appeals

for two sites in Hanslope, decided thatMKC did not have enough housing landprovision and allowed the appeals. Thishas significant implicaons for MKC andthey are considering going to JudicialReview. We are connuing with theupdate to our Neighbourhood Plan. Wewill aempt again to designate GobbeysField as a Local Green Space and we willseek to idenfy some of our historichouses, in addion to those Listed, wherethe front view should be protected. The Parish Council has objected to the

proposals on ”Malngs 2” on three

grounds; the design of the houses which donot match Paddock Close; the percentage ofaffordable housing; and the loss of planninggain funding. We are engaged with thedeveloper, Stonewater, to see if we cancome to an agreement but otherwise it willgo to a Planning Decision by MKC.Working with Hanslope Parish Council, we

have chosen a supplier to do our grasscung and shrub trimming from next April. The cost will be within the extra £5 peraverage house that we forecast in the villagesurvey.Best wishes for Christmas and New Year.
