Painting on Silk Fri. April 15 ~ 1:30-3:30 Our Painting on Silk Workshops have been so popular that we have been asked to “do it again”. Participants use fabric dyes to create a colorful one-of-a-kind 14"X 72" silk scarf. They make great gifts, but many times the creator can’t part with the finished product! Participants who are comfortable with their drawing skills can add details while others can create free form designs that do not require any drawing skills. Workshop is limited to 10 participants, so you must register in advance. Payment is due at the time of registration or by Friday April 8th. All materials will be provided. Fee is $15.

WORLD TAI CHI DAY ~ “One World, One Breath” Saturday April 30 is world Tai Chi Day. The annual event begins in the earliest time zone of Somoa at 10:00am, and then participants across Oceania, Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, and South America take part, with celebrations in eighty nations and several hundred cities, ending with the final events in the last time zones of Hawaii almost an entire day later. The Castleton Community Center will be holding a World Tai Chi Day celebration. The CCC class participants will practice the Tai Chi for Arthritis/Falls Prevention form and the Tai Chi for Diabetes form. Everyone is invited to come and participate or observe. Class information will be available. Weather permitting, our Tai Chi celebration will be held outside. Dress appropriately. There will be coffee and goodies at 9:00 then Tai Chi will begin at 10:00.

Be A Garden Groupie! The Community Center invites you to join our Garden Groupie Team. We have 16 beautiful raised garden beds and would love to have each one receive TLC from one of our members. The garden produces fresh produce for our senior meal salads and a bountiful harvest for fresh fall veggies. Of course, our Garden Groupie team members can share in the harvest themselves, and have the satisfaction of helping to provide healthy food for those who can no longer have a garden of their own. We’ll provide the seeds or plants and just ask that team members check their special “4’X8’ plot” once a week for weeds, thinning and harvesting. Please add your name to one of the Garden Groupie signup sheets at the Center entrances. We’ll schedule a meeting in April to get things growing!

HAND and FOOT-Tuesday Hand and Foot is a North American game related to Canasta, in which each player is dealt two sets of cards - the hand, which is played first, and the foot, which is played when the hand has been used up. Although most people say that Hand and Foot is best played by four people in partnerships, it can also be played by six in two teams of three, or by any number of people playing as individuals.

Anyone interested in playing Pinochle? Novices and beginners welcome. For more information call Lois Badgley 282-1249.

BINGO-Tuesday Our popular Bingo game players “mix and match” using different formations on the card. Come to socialize and try your luck at being the first to call out BINGO!

DOMINOES-Tuesday In Chickenfoot Dominoes the object of the game is to play all your tiles and have the lowest score at the end of the game. Your score is counted by the number of dots on the tiles remaining in your hand. Chickenfoot is played in rounds, one round for each double domino in the set. It’s fun-give it a try!

MAH JONGG -Friday Our Mah Jongg group is looking for more members. Mahjong is a game of skill, strategy, and calculation and involves a degree of chance. Come on Fridays from 9:30-12:00 and join in the fun.

Please remember that we must have all reservations by 10:00AM the day before and Friday at 10:00AM for Monday’s meal. We try to keep a waiting list in case someone cancels, but in all fairness to others attending, we must have an accurate count in advance. Also, please be kind and let us know as soon as possible if you must cancel a reservation. Remember, the Center is billed for each meal we order, so it is important to call ahead. Thank you!
