CASTLEWELLEN
NORTHERN IRELAND (16-18 SEPTEMBER 2009)
Castlewellen Castle—the orientation retreat site
The castle was built in the Scottish baronial style from granite & overlooks a lake
It is now a Christian conference centre
Inside the castle
Looking out of the window of the worship hall, one can see the Mourne Mountains, a granite mountain range
The magical world of Narnia was said to be inspired by these mountains
Outside the castle
On 17 September, the faculty & staff of BBC joined us
Many fellowship groups took a walk around the mile long lake
The night before, we had gone with a large group of students for a night walk around the lake
It was pitch dark (though a few students brought their torch lights)
We could only see stars in the sky
Walking in faith is like walking in the dark
You continue to walk even though you cannot see what is before you
You simply have to trust that it is safe for you to walk since the person before you has just passed through the same spot safely
Walking around the lake in the day was a different experience
