Catalan ecodesign strategy (ecodiscat), for a circularand ecoinnovative economy
The ecodiscat is a framework for eco-design in Catalonia , which includes the production and consumption of goods and services produced and/or distributed in Catalonia ; the Strategy should contribute significantly to reducing the environmen tal impacts associated with the Catalan market.

Ecodiscat general aims
• Promoting design of eco-products and eco-services and
encourage production and consumption patterns more sustainable.
• Establishing synergies with all stakeholders (companies,
universities, research centers, designers, consultants, consumers,
etc.)
• Establishing the necessary organization because the Strategy
has a significant and transversal impact on the Catalan market.
• Adapting to European regulatory requirements .

� Products already on the market , products under development or strategies for sustainable products. All entries must fulfil ecodesign criteria. Five categories.
� Participants: designers, manufacturers or promoters (professional or students) from Catalonia and Euro-Mediterranean countries

The Catalonia Ecodesign Award
Environmental management tools
Catalan Ecolabeling system created by the Catalan Government in 1994.
33 categories: water saving systems, paper products, wood products, recycled products, tourism establishments, vehicle fleets, libraries and museums, etc.
833 products with the Catalan Ecolabel.
European Ecolabeling system created by the European Commission in1992.
34 categories: cleaning products, home goods, tourist accommodation, textiles, paints, cosmetics, gardening products, etc.
1988 products with the European Ecolabel in Catalonia.
EMAS is a voluntary environmental system that helps organizations to improve the efficiency of their resources, reduce risks and set an example by publicly declaring good practices.
In Catalonia, there are 285 EMAS registered organizations (389 centres).

ECODESIGN PACKAGING PROJECT FOR THE FAST-FOOD SECTO R IN CATALONIA This project consists of coming up with eco-design packaging solutions for the fast-food sector in Catalonia that fulfil eco-design criteria while at the same time being economically and technically competitive .

Ecodesign in fast food packaging
� OBJECT: R & D ecodesign projects of products that
entail waste prevention in their life cycle.
They may include industrial research,
construction of prototypes, demonstration
projects and other experimental development
projects
� CONDITIONS:- Addressed to private companies (small, medium and big)
- Aid intensity: 25% of eligible costs
+ 10% if SME ; + 15% if effective collaboration between companies
- Eligible costs: personnel, materials, contractual research (maximum 50% outsourcing),
feasibility studies, other overheads incurred directly as a result of the project.
