About the companyPalmse Metall OÜ is a manufacturing enterprise based on Estonian capital. Palmse Metall OÜ began its economic activities in 2005, in Lääne-Viru County.Palmse Metall OÜ’s production facility is located in Palmse, Vihula Rural Municipality. The total area of the production complex is 3600 m². The updating of production technol-ogy began in 2007, during the course of which the produc-tion building was renovated and an offi ce together with welfare rooms was constructed. The factory’s rooms are divided based on the activity and the logical sequence of the performance of works. At the end of 2008 the shot and painting rooms were completed, as a result of which we are able to offer signifi cantly improved product quality than when we fi rst started. The company produces and markets agricultural machines for specifi c purposes, which are well-known and highly val-ued in Scandinavia and Europe. Palmse Metall’s output is characterised by quality, durability, simplicity and function-ality. Demand is ensured with the continuous updating of products and being guided, above all, by:

The product is distinguished, above all, by its design, func-tionality, originality and simple design based solutions. Over 90% of the company’s output is exported. Contrac-tual dealers/large clients are located in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Slovenia. We handle the marketing ourselves in Estonia.

The end users of the products are large agricultural enterpris-es, family farms and land owners. From among the different product groups, cattle breeders and grain growers will fi nd a worthy tractor trailer, as will forest owners or multifaceted agricultural farms, land cultivators and landscapers as well as construction companies and road builders.

About the products in general

Palmse Metall OÜ tractor trailers are suitable for all tractor types. The selection of models includes trailers ranging from one axle and with a max load capacity of 7-tonnes to trail-ers with three axles and a max load capacity of 22 tonnes. It is possible to increase the trailer’s box capacity by using extensions. Products are built taking into consideration, above all, user friendliness and simplicity. Palmse Metall offers backdoors for various types of uses on tractor trailers. At the same time, the enterprise’s products are also distinguished by the avail-able selection of colours – a specifi c colour tone is avail-able, which is used. Engineer’s commentsAccording to feedback gathered from custom-ers, we have constructed various trailers for perform-ance of various tasks. A common feature is that the main fi xtures – frame and box – have been made as simple as possible. The simplicity is also expressed by the price of the main products, as thus the customer can choose what exactly he/she needs and with various optional equip-ment combine a trailer meeting his/her needs. This allows for con-siderable saving both when buying a trailer and during the exploitation later on.

User commentsThe main reason to prefer Palmse Trailer is the specifi c nature of our business, which is land improvement and road construction.The model offered by Palmse Trailer had three most important qualities: a long frame, low and strong construction. This makes it a perfect tool for carrying soil and stones.Within fi ve years we have used this particular trailer for transporting over 12,000 tons of stones and over 8,000 tons of soil, which considering previous experience is rather good volume.The advantages of Palmse Trailer include reasonable acquisition price, but what is even more important — a good distribution network through which the necessary supplies are always available.And of course it is also important that the con-struction of models is based on their perform-ance and durability in real life.

In construction of these trailers, the number of joints and details has been minimised. Engineer’s commentsTo ensure wider using opportunities for our grain transportation trailer than just once a year, we have created a construction that enables quick assembly/disassembly of side boards and side board extensions. That in turn makes it possible to make a plat-form trailer out of a grain trailer, or vice versa, in just a few hours. Thus the equipment becomes more universal, and the trailer can be used for several tasks.

User commentsTrailers of Palmse Trailer brand were chosen mostly thanks to the strength of their construction, resistance of side boards and reasona-ble price. Also it helped that good colleagues, farmers, had a positive experience with the trailers of Palmse Trailer. Over years I have had ex-perience with agricultural equipment by different producers, but the universal nature of the trailers of Palmse Trailer impressed me. For example, with the larger trailer PT 190 I can transport grain, rape, as well as green mass for animals. When I remove the side boards, I get a tool suitable for the transport of large fertilizer bags or hay bales. Another trailer used in our company PT 307 has a smaller loading capacity, but especially good manoeuvring possibilities, and further fl exibility is provided by bed dumping to three directions. To sum up, I can say that the trailers of Palmse Trailer are perfect for their purpose. The simple and reliable construction is durable and needs little maintenance. They can be used for both newer and more powerful and older tractors, and thanks to the reasonable price, also other necessary farming equipment can be bought.

Following safety regulations and ease of use, the cattle trailers is divided into • separate sections by the centrally located extensible partition wall. 8 metre cattle trailers are divided inside by two partitions into three sections. As a result of which it is possible to safely transport cattle, while at the same time the parti-tion makes the process of loading cattle easier and allows the trailer to be used in a more diverse manner.There is an additional door located at the front of the trailer.•

The cattle trailer is equipped with a removable PVC cover. The opening and closing of the loading door is made easier by the extension springs located on either side of the loading door. The fl oor of the cattle trailer is made from a special type of sheet metal.

Engineer’s commentsIn this trailer class, the rear door deserves attention: thanks to the low trailer base and massive construction, in lowered position, the door can be used as a ramp for gui-ding animals on and off, thus eliminating a need for separate walking paths. To make the opening and closing of the massive door easier, we have created a special spring attachment, which operates as a braking system on opening and as an engine on closing. Similarly to the grain trailer, the side boards are removable, which makes it possible to use the animal trailer also for other work, e.g. as a bale trailer.

Products are characterised mainly by their multi-functionality, which is expressed with the option of using a replacement box. A notable degree of ef-fi ciency is achieved on several objects during the course of operation, e.g., it is possible to use the same frame to perform other transport operations on other work sites. The tilting is also available as an additional function. Base frames are offered with load capacity 14-15 tons, multilift boxes with length from 4 to 6.3 metres. Multilift trailers have a hydraulic locking system on the rear axel, which fi xes the axel, so that the loading and unloading of boxes would be more stable.The fi eld of use is unlimited – construction, agriculture, forestry, landscaping, etc. Depend-ing on user preferences it is possible to order a suitable braking system for the trailer – air brakes or hydraulic brakes. We offer different load boxes with different capacitances and platforms for the multilift frame (possible to transport anything, including tractors). Multilift boxes:

Engineer’s commentsIn multilift trailers we use a double hydraulic cylinder, which ensures suffi cient lifting capacity in the fi rst phase of tilting with a bigger load, and in the second phase with smaller load makes it possible to lift the box quicker. Thereby, oil consumption and requirements to the hydraulic system of tractor decrease. As a second important innovation, we have constructed container attachment hook with a changing angle, which enables smoother lifting of container at a smaller angle. This innovation avoids dropping of the load at the time of loading a container.
