The Vega Aluminium Window SetAfter 20 - 30 years of sterling service, the window gaskets are starting to deteriorate badly. This cancause serious leaks which can lead to a very sodden Vega. The new windows also protect frombeing stoved in as the frames are securely bolted onto the coachroof and have a wide flange. Withthe inside flange also through-bolted it provides a tough solution. The answer to this problem isdetailed below and is available from Vega Spares:
This entails removing the old gasket and panes. New toughened 5mm glass is used with thecustom-built aluminium frames. The finished product is 100% waterproof and certainly improvesthe looks of the Vega. The Vega shown below, Vanern, is kept and sailed in The Shetlands and is agreat testimonial to the frames’ effectiveness. This is not a cheap alternative but is not difficult toinstall, either on land or afloat (A day’s work for two people with basic DIY skills). A seaworthyand good looking improvement to your Vega.

Beta Marine have collaborated with the Vega Association to produce and supply a superbreplacement engine for the Albin Vega. This is a direct replacement for the MD6A and MD7AVolvo Diesel supplied to the majority of Albin Vegas. It can also be used to replace the Albin PetrolEngines with modification of the engine bearers. The Beta Twin can be supplied as a BasicEngine/Gearbox or as a complete installation package with propshaft, propeller, controls etc. A fullset of installation notes are also available complete with photos from previous installations.
The Beta Twin is based on the world renowned Kubota Block so spares are available world-wideand at realistic prices. The sea-water pump is driven from the camshaft which is gear driven and notby a cambelt. The engine comes complete with heat exchanger and header tank (Fresh watercooled), water cooled exhaust manifold, fresh and sea water pumps, mechanical lift pump, fuel & oilfilters, Steel Bearers, adjustable mounting feet, flywheel housing, air filter, 12 volt starter motor, 40amp alternator, shutdown solenoid, Type A Engine panel (Keyswitch, stop button, warning lightsand buzzer for Low Oil/Water Temperature/No Alternator Charge) and complete with a 3 metreconnecting cable harness with plug & socket to connect to the engine harness. A Hurth 50 Gearboxis supplied complete with a flexible coupling and Morse end fittings. Finally the engine is finished in aheat resistant red paint. There are various options available and shipping can be arrangedworldwide. The engine and gearbox weighs a mere 89kg all in.

Standing Rigging & Deckware
The Vega uses standard 5mm stainless standard rigging. Many still have their original rigging andmust be checked at regular intervals. Many Insurance companies insist on replacement rigging at 10years and if not adhered to can be difficult with any claims that include rigging failure. There arestandard measurements for the Vega Rigging but every yacht is individual so exact measurementsshould be made of your old rigging, including bottlescrews if these are to be changed. The forestayhas usually been changed if a standard furling gear has been installed (Rotostay etc) so this is notincluded unless specified at time of order. Panels & Electrics
Electric Panels
The panels we provide are made from black “traffolyte”. This is a plastic sandwich material so thatwhen engraved the white layer shows through. It can be used both inside and outside. We providea standard panel with twelve switches and fuses but panels can be made to your exact specification.Costing the panel depends on the amount of switches, amount of fuses, size of panel and thecomplexity of design. All wiring is professionally soldered and each panel is supplied with a crimp
connector for each switch.

Instrument Switch Panels
The interior instrument panel fromSouthern Comfort V1703. This panelorganizes the switches into three groups- Intruments, Lights and General. The21 switches may be a wee bit over thetop as we would suggest the standard12 switch/fuse panel as the ideal interior switch panel.
This panel shows the 18 Switch panel madefor Rough Diamond V990. The owner al-ready has fused outlets so all he neededwere the switches. Again, they are arrangedin three groups - Nav, Lights and General.Rounded corners with 5mm mounting holesare provided as standard.

Vega Cushions & UpholsteryWe can supply upholstery for both the inside and outside your Vega. Made to order by anupholsterer who is fully conversant with the Vega. He has been supplying cushions for the Vega forover eight years and has all the measurements and templates for all three variants of the Vega. Beassured, the cushions will fit beautifully. The Upholstery Sets can be sent direct to your house orMarina (UK Mainland) at cost (about £15 per set). Enquire for other locations but we have sentitems to Vegas as far away as Alaska, Israel and all over Europe.
Cockpit Cushion Set
The outside Cockpit Cushions use high density closed-cell foam and vinyl covering. Profiled to fit thecockpit exactly they come in four separate pieces. Various colours are available but the classicmid-blue looks stunning if you have blue canvas work (Sprayhood etc.). It certainly makes thoselonger cruises more comfortable and even the evening Gin & Tonic is drunk in comfort.
Interior Upholstery Set
The interior set consists of the two saloon bunk cushions, four saloon backrests, two forward cabinbunk cushions, one full height infill cushion and one half-height infill cushion. All foam is 5”fire-retardant and fully certificated. Various cloths are available but all are hard-wearing and easilycleaned. All cushions are edged with matching piping and come complete with nylon zips on eachcushion. Ideal way to smarten up the interior of your Vega.
There are two different sizes of cushion layouts in the Vega. Series I & II are the same (V0001 -V3100) but there is a slight difference with the Series III Vega. You can tell if you have a Series IIIVega as it will have an MD7A Engine and the wider cockpit coaming. If in doubt then please call forconfirmation.

Teak Vennered Washboards and Solid Teak Surrounds
The three piece washboard set is made from premium teak veneered marine ply and edged withhardwood teak to prevent water ingress. All edges are sealed with epoxy to provide a waterproofsystem. The craftsmanship is superb with the grain of the veneer enhanced by the oiled finish. Thewashboards can be purchased by themselves or with the new profiled teak surround. This is a veryeasy improvement that can be carried out on you Vega with just basic DIY skills and tools(Polyureathane Sealant is used to bed the teak surround with stainless screws) .
