Specialty Labels Flap (Self-Laminating)
Self-laminating labels are an effective method for marking
and identify�ing almost any� application. The labels are supplied
with a blank handwritten/printable area that is protected by� a
clear self-laminating fl ap. The self-laminating fl ap safeguards
the handwritten/printable area from exposure to oils, solvents,
water and abrasions.

digitally� printed labels. Get the look y�ou want with
vibrant four colour process printing. We can die cut
to any� custom shape, whether it be a simple oval or

are printed on high quality� gloss, exterior grade, self
adhesive white viny�l that is great for both indoor and

Thermal Transfer and Direct ThermalThermal Trans�fer: This process uses either wax, wax-resin or resin based ribbons to
transfer images and text to selected materials. Custom colour and
preprinted labels are also available.
Direct Thermal: Direct thermal technology� does not require a ribbon, instead,
a heat-sensitive material produces images as heat is exposed to
the surface. Ideal for indoor applications where temperatures will
not exceed high levels. Custom colours and preprinted labels are
available.
Thermal Transfer Ribbons and Printers
General purpose thermal transfer wax ribbons, for use on selected
thermal transfer printers. Many custom colours and sizes available
upon request. Wax/resin and resin ribbons also available. Please
call for more details.
Blank 4” x 6” thermal transfer white labels with a 3” core are alway�s in stock. (1,000 per roll - 4,000 per case)

Designed for dot matrix printers these labels are perforated
and fanfolded. You can request the labels to be rewound on
to rolls if required. Choose between blank or custom printed
pin feed labels.

ArtworkSpectrim Label’s art department is available to effectively� create and prepare
new label designs for print. Working with y�ou we can create y�our labels to
help save on expensive design costs. We design on Apple computers
and are capable of handling fi les created on both Mac OS X and Windows.

• Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint fi les
How to Supply Artwork
All digital art fi les should be supplied with necessary�
fonts or with all text outlined/converted to curves. To avoid
any� corruption, digital fi les and folders can be compressed
as .zip or .sit fi les. We also recommend you provide a
coloured digital PDF proof or printed sample of y�our
original artwork to help ensure y�our labels are created as
accurate as possible.
Note: All pre-press adjustments to supplied artwork will be
made by� the art department to conform with our presses.
If y�ou are unable to email y�our artwork, we are capable of
copying your fi les off of CD-ROMs, DVDs and USB storage
devices. You can also upload fi les directly� to our FTP Server.

- A protective film of clear material is added or “laminated” on top of the finished
label. This is used when y�ou want to protect the ink and have the label last longer.
- UV coating is mostly used to enhance the look of the label;� adding either a high
gloss or matte finish. It can be supplied as a custom spot varnish on only� selected
areas of the label, and protect y�our label from some scuffing.
- Most labels are finished on rolls and can vary from several hundred to several
thousand per roll. Appropriate for y�our labels whether they� are hand or machine
applied. Standard core sizes are 1”, 1 ½”, and 3”
- Another option instead of rolls is to have your labels perforated and fanfolded.
- An example would be dot matrix printers/computer pin feed labels. (s�ee pg 11)
- Labels can be sheeted as requested (1,2, and 3 up). Perfect for your sales or
service staff to slide into their binder, as giveaway�s, for resale, or for y�ou to pop in
the mail.
- Another finishing option is to have your labels “perfed”;� that is, do you want holes
punched in the label liner to allow y�ou to separate individual labels before y�ou
apply� them to their destination surfaces.
- Dictates how the label comes off the roll. Refer to unwind chart
- Ovals, Circles, and Rectangles - Odd shapes, arched for curved surfaces, and custom applications can be labeled.
Custom dies can be ordered to any shape and size.
- No space between labels and labels have square corners
- Can be used in conjunction with all die shapes (except butt cut) and is used for
easy� separation of labels
