Since June 24 falls on a Sunday this year, the Church has the opportunity for a more intense celebration of the birth of John the Baptist, who is often described as the last of the Old Testament prophets and the bridge between Judaism and Christianity. More commonly, John is known as the “precursor” of our Lord Jesus Christ. All the Gospels report John’s basic message: Repent, the kingdom is near
at hand. One greater than I is coming. Though he was a wandering preacher who dressed in camel skins and ate grasshoppers, John’s legacy is one of true royalty. His origins are similar to those foretold by God through the prophet Isaiah: “You are my servant, he said to me, Israel through whom I show my glory” (Isaiah 49:3). John’s humility—“I am not he”—was surpassed only by that of his Lord Jesus, the humble servant who followed.
Our heartfelt sympathy goes to the Veach & Brannan Families on the passing of Florence Berquist. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones
Today is the Nativity of St. John the Baptist
A Statement from Daniel Cardinal DiNardo, Archbishop Galveston-Houston and President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Fort Lauderdale, FL - June 13, 2018: "At its core, asylum is an instrument to preserve the right to life. The Attorney General's recent decision elicits deep concern because it potentially strips asylum from many women who lack adequate protection. These vulnerable women will now face return to extreme dangers of domestic violence in their home country. This decision negates decades of precedents that have provided protection to women fleeing domestic violence. Unless overturned, the decision will erode the capacity of asylum to save lives, particularly in cases that involve asylum seekers who are persecuted by private actors. We urge courts and policy makers to respect and enhance, not erode, the potential of our asylum system to preserve and protect the right to life. Additionally, I join Bishop Joe Vásquez, Chairman of the USCCB's Committee on Migration, in condemning the continued use of family separation at the U.S./ Mexico border as an implementation of the Administration's zero tolerance policy. Our government has the discretion in our laws to ensure that young children are not separated from their parents and exposed to irreparable harm and trauma. Families are the foundational element of our society and they must be able to stay together. While protecting our borders is important, we can and must do better as a government, and society, to find other ways to ensure that safety. Separating babies from their mothers is not the answer and is immoral.”

Exposing Lies with Love
How does an atheist pro-choice woman come to recognize the common sense at the heart of Catholicism and its pro-life stance? Jennifer Fulwiler offers her personal story as well as a glimpse into the flawed logic at the center of secular
society’s contraceptive mentality.
In this eye-opening presentation, Jennifer explains how her original support for abortion was based on love (and lies). Through sound logic and scientific proof, Jennifer chronicles how she came to accept the truth about abortion.
CDs & Books can be found in the Vollkommer Bell Tower and the lobby in the Parish Offices Complex).

Acts 13:25
Our Lady of Grace Rosary Group The Rosary will be prayed in homes and hosted by parishioners on TUESDAY EVENINGS, instead of Wednesdays. The Rosary will be prayed in the home of David & Phil Stucker, 127 Pelican Drive, Chapin, on Tuesday, June 26th @ 6:30 pm. Please call the Stucker’s
(803) 607-0442 if you can attend. Mrs. Laura Renda is the OLOG Rosary Group Coordinator. Please let her know if you would be willing to host Our Lady of Grace Rosary once a month. Come and partake in the beauty and benefits of the Rosary. This weekly devotion is worth the trip! There is fellowship before and after if you like.
The Adoration Chapel is available for adoration of the Blessed Sacrament 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with the use of a code to enter the chapel. The code is available through the parish office. Please make sure you refer to the Adoration
Chapel Etiquette posted in the chapel, on the Parish’s Facebook Page and on the Parish’s website. Thank you for spending time with the Blessed Sacrament in Adoration and Prayer.
"Is anyone among you sick? They should summon the presbyters of the church, to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will save the sick person and the Lord will raise them up. If they have committed any sins, they will be
forgiven." (James 5:14)
In the sacrament we pray that the sick be healed in body, in mind and in spirit. The mission of the Church is to do what Jesus did. Healing was essential to the mission of the disciples. If you are experiencing the effects of illness, advanced age, preparing for surgery and seek the healing power of the sacrament you are encouraged to ask Father Dennis to celebrate the Anointing of the Sick with you. You or a family member can contact the parish office at 803.345.3962 or call Father’s cell phone at 843.834.5447.
PLEASE JOIN US AFTER THE 10:30 MASS NEXT SUNDAY, JULY 1ST, IN ST. ANDREW HALL FOR CAKE & DESSERTS, COFFEE & JUICE TO CELEBRATE FATHER DENNIS ON THE 24TH ANNIVERSARY OF HIS ORDINATION. And Mark Your Calendars for the Weekend of June 29-30, 2019 to Celebrate Father Dennis’ Silver Jubilee!
Rosary Prayed in Church
Before the Vigil Mass on Saturdays and on Sundays before the Evening 5 pm Mass.
The Respect Life Ministry Invites all Parishioners to
join them to pray the Patriotic Rosary
On Sunday, July 1, 2018 After the 5 pm Mass
Prayed from within cloistered convents to inside the Pentagon; from dangerous military fields around the globe to the
quietness of the bedroom and here at Our Lady of the Lake. Inspired by Our Lady, the “Patriotic Rosary” is a powerful prayer for divine protection and mercy for our Nation and its rebirth. It is especially important to pray for our Nation during this time.
S piritual Book Club will not meet over the summer. They will resume meeting
in the Fall. Due to the Labor Day holiday, they will not meet the first Monday in Sep-tember but will meet August 27 instead at 12:30 at the Coffee Shelf and will discuss Life Without Limits by Nick Vujicic. All are
welcome! For further information please contact Linda Spencer 803.732.3201 or [email protected].
