GOD’S PROVIDENCE Today’s readings celebrate God’s providence. No matter how wonderful (or heartbreaking) our relationships are, God always provides for us. No one cares for us the way God does. Isaiah delights us with a deeply intimate image of God caring for us “as a mother comforts her child.” The prophet describes us not as the usual “children of God,” but as “babies.” We should not resist this image, but rejoice in it. Trusting in God’s care, we can all let down our guard and rest like infants in the lap of our mother. Saint Paul’s trust in God allows him to be at peace like this. He boldly declares that no one can “make troubles” for him, because he has given himself completely to Jesus. And when Jesus sends his disciples out to preach and heal, he challenges them not to provide for themselves, but to let faith be their guide. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

VOLVER A CASA

Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

Everyone,

July starts the new year for the Columbian calendar. Our challenges are great, but our team is strong. Along with the other ministries in the church, we look forward to bringing events that will be fun, enter-taining and family oriented. We are currently planning our first event for the new year. This event will present what the Knights of Columbus do, which charities we support, as well as an overview of the Knights as a whole and the benefits of membership. This may not sound exciting but it comes with a free dinner so maybe that helps. More information will be forthcoming on this subject.

As a nation we are truly blessed. Our challenge is to give back to society amid all of our other duties and responsibilities to work, family, church and everything else that fills our lives. I have found that the Knights of Columbus offer this opportunity. Please let me know if you would like to talk about how being Knight could fit into your busy schedule and give you the satisfaction of giving back to those in need.

Sincerely,

Keith Flaherty

Grand Knight, Monsignor Hayes Council

FUNERAL PRE-PLANNING WORKSHOP

Join representatives from Catholic Funeral & Cemetery Services, a Ministry of the Diocese of Sacramento, they will be giving a brief presentation after each of the Masses the weekend of, July 13th & 14th, 2019. The presentations will be held in Gurnell Hall Lounge where you can get all of your questions answered like: can we be cremated? What is the difference between Funeral and Cemetery? I think I have it all taken care of, I have a burial rite already at the Cemetery. Who picks up the deceased if they pass away at home? What are the Church’s teachings around being buried? Why is a Catholic Cemetery important? We are here as your resource through one of life’s most difficult times. For more information, please contact Nicole Zamora, Director of Community Outreach, at (916) 840-2138 or by e-mail at [email protected].
