MISSIONARIES OF MERCY Paul’s back! After last week’s “violent abuse,” opponents organized a lynch mob that beat Paul nearly to death. But call Paul the “energizing evangelist,” transforming deadly cruelty into life-giving zeal. Paul’s past courage should inspire our commitment; Revelation’s future “new heaven, new earth” should inspire our optimism. But Revelation’s present assurance, “Behold, God’s dwelling is with the human race,” should challenge us to become “missionaries of mercy.” Because Pope Francis declared that the Church’s credibility is completely dependent on our showing unconditional mercy. Mercy, said Francis, makes the Church, the world, and everyone young again, reawakened to life’s noblest virtues. Fittingly, in today’s Gospel Jesus reinforces that theme: “This is how all will know you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

MISSIONARIES OF MERCY

Paul’s back! S. Paluch Co.

In our continuing celebration of the season, FaithWorks

will be having a pizza and movie night! High Schoolers are invited to Cantwell Hall from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 20th. Please note the time change from our normal 6:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to allow for a full length film and snacking. All in High School are invited to attend! Keep up to date on what we are doing by joining our closed group on Facebook, "FAITHWORKS! St. Patrick High School Youth Group, Placerville, CA", or by contacting Jeannine Delgado at [email protected] or 530-622-7692. Next week, FaithWorks will not be meeting at our normal time. Instead, please join us at St. Patrick Cemetery from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 25th to help clean and beautify. We will be honoring all those who have served the Armed Forces. God bless our veterans and active military!

myPARISH APP In the New Evangelization, we talk about “meeting people where they are.” Increasingly, mobile devices are

where people are. We have so much information in our hands. So how can we ensure that faith is at your fingertips? Enter the myParish App, if you have not done so already. The myParish App, developed by Diocesan Publications, is offered completely free to our parishes and parishioners. The easy-to-use app is available in both English and Spanish. With the app, you can stay up to date with events and messages from your parish. You’ll also have easy access to daily readings, reflections, prayers and more enriching content to help you live Catholic life every day. You can schedule daily or weekly notifications to pray or schedule a reminder to go to confession. There’s even an interactive examination of conscience built right into the app! Turn on “MassMode” and you’ll get a notification 20 minutes before Mass to silence your phone. Exclusive to the Diocese of Sacramento are buttons to read Catholic Herald magazine, listen to “The Bishop’s Hour” weekday podcast, and watch “The Sacramento Bishop’s Corner” monthly interview series. We hope that this free resource will help you strengthen your practice of our beautiful Catholic faith, and that this tool will help parishes foster a stronger relationship with you. To download the myParish App to your Apple or Android device, text the word “App” to 88202 or search for myParish App in your app store. Then search for your parish within the app. That’s it!

NEWS FROM FAITH FORMATION

A Graduate’s Prayer

Father, I love knowledge, so will you show me now,

how to use it wisely and find a way somehow to make the world I live in a little better place.

and make life, with its problems, a bit easier to face…

Grant me faith and courage and put a purpose in my days,

and show me how to serve Thee in the most effective ways so all my education,

my knowledge and my skill, may find their true fulfillment

as I learn to do Thy will. and may I ever be aware in everything I do

that knowledge comes from learning and wisdom comes from You.
