APRIL 21, 2019: EASTER SUNDAY

This is the Day the Lord Has Made, Let Us Rejoice and Be Glad

It is Easter Sunday, the stone has been rolled away and the tomb is empty, and that changes everything. If that stone can be rolled away then the love of God can move mountains. If the

tomb is empty and Jesus is alive, then the love of God is stronger than everything, even death. It is a promise that means we will see our family and friends again. If the tomb is empty then every broken dream we have ever had, every disappointment is not the end of

the story. Jesus is risen, He is not done yet, there is more to the story.

Easter Sunday tells us that Jesus is alive, and that means His mission of love and redemption is not over. But now each one of us is sent out to continue that mission. It is through the Eucharist, offered to us whenever we gather at Mass, that we become what we receive – we

become the Body of Christ. And we take that presence of Christ within us out into our broken world that so desperately needs to see His face and hear His voice and be touched by His healing hands. Each of us can be the unexpected love and kindness and hope of Christ to our families and friends. Are we ready to accept the depth of

God’s love that the resurrection shows us? Are we ready to share in the divine life that Jesus invites us into?

If Jesus, who was nailed to a cross to show us how deep the love of God is for us, is alive, then everything is possible. There is a future of hope, and possibility, and love that will never end. Today is an invitation to allow ourselves to be amazed again, to fall in love again, to be surprised again. Today is the day when everything we hope for, care for, long for, and cry out for is satisfied. And He comes again, in the Eucharist, to strengthen us and

remind us that God’s love conquers all, and that each one of us has a part to play in the redemption of our world.

This is the day the lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad! Deacon Dan Burns

Forming in Faith...

Collaborative Religious Education

Religious Education Grades 1-8 All classes resume the week of April 28 at their regular days and times.

Grade 2 First Communion Students continue to prepare for the reception of First Eucharist. We prayerfully ask that parents take their children to Mass each week in preparation for the reception of the Sacrament. What an exciting time for the parish and families, as we continue to work together preparing the children to receive Jesus in the Eucharist for the very first time.

If your child is in need of a First Communion dress, suit, shoes or accessories, please call Mrs. Gleason to schedule a convenient time to come in and see the many gently used items we have to lend out.

A blessed Easter to all of our Religious Education students and their families.

Pray the Rosary in May!

Join us for the outdoor Rosary on Tuesdays in May

in honor of Our Blessed Mother. We will meet outside at the statue of the Blessed Mother at Saint Jerome

Church on the four Tuesdays in May at 6:30 pm. May 7 (Joyful), May 14

(Luminous), May 21 (Sorrowful) and May 28

(Glorious). In the event of inclement weather, we will meet inside the Church.

All are welcome, young and old!

Easter Sunday

The Resurrection of the Lord

St. Peter reminds us today that Jesus

Christ “...commissioned us to preach to

the people and testify that he is the one

appointed by God.” Who are the people

you might “preach to” or speak to today

about Christ? Pray for the courage to be like Peter and

Mary Magdalen and tell your story – the story of how

God works in your life. This is not just good news, it

is Good News. Share it!

Easter Flower Offerings

Sincere thanks to all who contributed to our beautiful Easter Flowers. The names of your loved ones have been placed on our Altars and will be remembered in prayer throughout the Easter Season. Thank you to all of our parishioners who worked so hard to provide our collaborative with an uplifting celebration of the sacred Triduum: Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the Easter Vigil. It takes many people working many hours to make it all come together so nicely. Great job!

New Baby? Congratulations !

Please call the parish office to make arrangements for your child’s Baptism. At Immaculate Conception parish, baptisms are held on the first Sunday of each

month and at Saint Jerome Parish they are held on the third Sunday of each month. Parents are asked to attend a baptismal catechesis prior to the baptism and

to please keep in mind when choosing Godparents, that they need to be Confirmed, practicing Catholics. In certain circumstances, if you have only one

Godparent who is a Confirmed and practicing Catholic, your child’s Baptism is also valid.

Respect Life Baby Shower - Thank You!

Dear Parishioners of Immaculate Conception Parish,

Thank you so much for all of the wonderful gifts you gave in support of Saint Mary’s Home. Our residents are very grateful for your past and current support of

our shelter for eighteen pregnant/parenting teens and their babies. Without your support we would not be able to offer

these women and their babies the comprehensive array of services we do. The stuffed animals, wash cloths, baby wash and lotions, enable us to provide

welcome baskets for each new teen and baby that comes into our home. We could not be more grateful and appreciative to you all!

Thank you for your support—it means the world. My best, Anna

The young women in Saint Mary’s Home, between the ages of 13-18, are on their own, struggling to take care of themselves and their children. Most are

burdened by a history of trauma, domestic violence, homelessness and substance abuse or neglect. The

teens are encouraged and supported to play a central role in their treatment and are provided with

clinical and health care services, group and family therapy, independent living, and parenting education. Additional support helps teens finish high

school and explore academic, vocational, and housing options.
