MRS JENNIFER (JENNY) MACALPINE

ANNATIKA CAVALIER KING CHARLES SPANIELS

I was born in Scotland and lived the first 21 years of my life there. After training as a nurse and marrying I

moved to London.

My very first dog was a GSD named Sheila and she was lovely and to this day I have a great fondness for this

breed.

After Sheila we as a family had a Border Collie named Perrie who was more my grandfather’s dog than anyone

else’s. Perrie lived a long life and was still alive when our two sons were born. She tried to round the wee one

up without great success.

After our two sons were born in the 1970’s we adopted a GSD crossbred lass who was named Penny and she

lived until she was 13 and was very much part of our family.

We were asked to look after a GSD named Annie one Christmas when Penny was getting on – well there by

stands a tale. Annie came for Christmas and stayed for over 10 years and she rejuvenated Penny for the last

year of her life.

Annie was the start of our showing and we had a few rosettes with her but she proved too much for me – and I

had a few mishaps in the ring – falling over. Our younger son Ken took over the showing and became quite a

good little handler. Whilst Ken was showing I would walk round and look at the other rings and this was the

start of my falling in love with the cavalier.

I had my first cavalier in 1986 and one was just not enough –

Our first litter was born in 1987 but although we ran on a dog he never did go into the show ring. Our first

homebred dog was Annatika Debutante and she certainly led the way for many more of our own breeding.

We have bred two UK Champions one Annatika Tabitha for Delhaze who was owned and campaigned by our

mentors and very dear friends Hazel and Eddie Edwards. Hazel and Eddie bred our very first cavalier and we

have remained close friends since then. The other UK Champion was our own Annatika Sakima who also went

Best in Show at the UK CKCS Club Show in 2000 – a day to remember.

We have also over the years bred dogs that have gained their titles in Norway, USA and Canada.

I have been judging since 1989 and have judged in UK, New Zealand, Australia, Canada ,USA, Norway and

Slovakia.

These days we are enjoying retirement in Cumbria (Lake District) a very pretty part of the world. We have two

cavaliers and one Golden Retriever. Most days finds us down at the beach walking the dogs. I have been out

showing now for just over two years and have had success with Dolly (|Delhaze Dolly Daydream with Annatika

JW) and also won a few rosettes with our new lad Danny (Trirayne Kez with Annatika).

I love our breed; their super outgoing temperament and great personalities and could not imagine life without at

least one.

I am honoured to have been requested to judge the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Cub of Canada’s Speciality

Show on 31st August and am looking forward to seeing all the lovely dogs there.

Betsy S. Clagett, RN, BSN

Tea Time Cavaliers, Poulsbo, WA.

I want to thank the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club of Canada for inviting me to judge their sweepstakes

competition this year. I truly feel very honored.

I’ve been involved in dogs, and dog sports, most of my life, starting out as a junior handler in the early 70’s.

I then moved on to breeding and showing Weimaraners under the mentorship of the late, great, Sharon Kruebbe,

of Kristof Kennels, Seattle, WA.

In the early 80’s, I married and moved to the East Coast, MA, then VT, where I bred, showed, and competed

in shows and combined driving events with Morgan horses under the affix of Clay Gates Farm, Reg. During

those years, I was fortunate enough to be mentored by Morgan Horse Hall of Fame breeder, Mabel Owen, of

Merrylegs Farm, S. Dartmouth, MA, and bred and showed many champions during those years, including the

ASHA driving horse of the year, Clay Gates Fort Knox.

In the early nineties, I returned to the West Coast, to my love of dogs, and with a new breed, Labradors,

under the mentorship of Shelah Horne Frey, of Mainland Labradors, Bellevue, WA. During my years in

Labradors, I was lucky enough to have a Canadian National specialty BOS winner, as well as the dam of the

2017 Westminster BOB winner, amongst other wonderful Labradors.

Over time, and with age, I realized I needed a smaller breed, and after much deliberation, I decided on the

Cavalier, for its versatility and sporting type nature. In 2006, I brought home my first Cavalier, a tri girl who I

named Mabel, after my dear departed Morgan mentor. Mabel was a daughter of Ch. Peakdown’s Aidan, ROM,

and enjoyed a great deal of success in the show ring. Her easy, scopey, movement, and classic Cavalier type set

the standard for me in my breeding program. Over the last decade or so, I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy

success on the local, regional, and national level, in the breed ring, agility arena, and performance events.

This summer marks my 45th year in dogs and dog sports, and judging at the Canadian national specialty will

be a highlight and a wonderful way to celebrate that! I am greatly looking forward to it, and I wish the club and

exhibitors the best of luck! I will do my best to honor your entries!

Ashley Reid

Ashley entered the dog world in 1976 showing Old English Sheepdogs and Collies. Since this time his main focus has

been Tibetan Terriers and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, (all four colors), winning multiple Best in Shows and breeding

many champions and a grand champion under the "Aryed" prefix. The top winning Tibetan Terrier of all time and breed

record holder for BIS in Australasia is owner bred handled by Ashley, and he has also owned the top winning TT in

Australia for the last ten years. He breeds Miniature Pinschers in partnership with Helene McMahon under the "Khanrae"

prefix. Champions carrying this prefix number in excess of 50 including many All Breed and Specialty Best In Show

winners. Once again both Australia and New Zealand's Top Winning Min Pins carry the Khanrae prefix. Ashley has

owned and campaigned many other breeds. Some highlights include campaigning a Welsh Corgi Pembroke to top Corgi

in Australia, winning among many Best in Show awards, Best Exhibit in Show at the Adelaide Royal show under breed

specialist Virginia Lynne from Canada. He has also piloted many Shar Pei to their championship titles winning Best in

Shows along the way. Ashley handled the first Black Smooth Griffon Bruxellois in the Southern Hemisphere to gain a

championship title. Last year saw the introduction of a Pekingese to the kennel who became Victoria's top Toy winning

multiple BIS. Many other breeds have been campaigned with success. He has judged in Victoria, Queensland, South

Australia, A.C.T., Tasmania, and Western Australia. Overseas appointments include multiple assignments in South Africa

and New Zealand. In 2008 he is judging Tibetan Terriers in conjunction with the World Dog Show circuit in Sweden.

Specialist appointments include Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, (Australia and New Zealand), Miniature Pinscher, Griffon

Bruxellois, Chow Chow, French Bulldog and Toy Poodle championship shows. Ashley is licensed to judge the Toy,

Gundog, Hound, Working Dog and Non Sporting Groups at Championship level. He also judges the Gundog, and Utility

groups & Best In Show at Open show level

Gerald Munro

I have been involved with purebred dogs since the 1990s, my two main breeds are Boxers and Pointers. Before getting

involved in showing dogs I exhibited and judged Horses and Ponies. I have judged both Horses and Ponies at the most

prestigious Royal and National levels.

I have enjoyed great success breeding and exhibiting both breeds under the “Tyeanbo” alongside the late David Crooks

and his wife Faye. Boxers were the first breed, with Pointers joining about 10 years ago. Tyeanbo Boxers and Pointers

have enjoyed huge success at All Breeds and Specialty shows with Multiple Best in Show winners in both breeds. In 2016

and 2017 we had the #1 Boxer and #1 Pointer in Australia. Last year my new home bred upcoming Pointer “Neville” was

Australia's #1 Puppy amongst All Breeds

Since 2015 my partner Ashley and I have been heavily involved in the campaigning of “Dapsen” Cavaliers, we have been

lucky enough to have Australia’s #1 Cavalier in 2015, 2017 and 2018 reside with us. 2015 – Brynn “Sup Ch Dapsen

Bejazzled”, 2017 and 2018 – Elliott “Sup Ch Dapsen Flying High”. We currently have their daughter Lily “Ch Dapsen

Mirror Mirror” to campaign. I am very excited about judging the sweepstakes for your club and thank you for the

opportunity to judge your dogs.

CANADIAN KENNEL CLUB SCHEDULE OF CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS SECTION 2. The schedule to be employed in the determination of the number of points to be allocated to a dog awarded WINNERS shall be as follows: (*Includes the dog awarded Winners.) Dogs Competing* 1 2 3 to 5 6 to 9 10 to 12 13 or more Points Allocated* 0 1 2 3 4 5 To determine the number of championship points earned by a dog awarded Winners, total all the dogs in competition which the dog defeated, directly or indirectly, for the highest of the following official breed awards: Winners, Best of Winners, Best of Breed or Best of Opposite Sex and then consult the schedule set forth above. A dog that is disqualified, dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge shall not be included in the calculation for championship points. Further section 15.1.12 {C} has been added and states the dog must: “have earned at least one 2 point win either at the breed level or group level.” The system provides for additional points if a dog awarded winners also places in the Group as listed hereunder. Breeds Competing: PLACED PLACED PLACED PLACED At Group Level FIRST SECOND THIRD FOURTH 13 or more Breeds 5 4 3 2 10 to 12 Breeds 4 3 2 1 6 to 9 Breeds 3 2 1 1 5 Breeds 2 1 1 1 4 Breeds 2 1 1 0 3 Breeds 2 1 0 0 2 Breeds 1 0 0 0 1 Breed 0 0 0 0 A class dog awarded Best In Show at an all-breed championship show will be credited with five points inclusive of any points earned at the breed or group level. In no case may a dog earn more than five (5) points at a single show. To earn a Canadian Championship, a dog must earn at least ten championship points under at least three different judges; and be individually registered with the Canadian Kennel Club, or have a CKC EVENT REGISTRATION NUMBER (ERN).

Grand Champion (GCh) The title of Grand Champion may only be earned after the completion of the CKC

Conformation Championship. Points for this title are only accumulated after the completion of the Conformation

Championship and do not include the points earned in attaining the Conformation Championship. All required

points are to be earned at the breed level. To be awarded a Grand Champion title, a dog must attain a

minimum of 20 points which must include two wins of at least two points each. Grand Champion Point System

Points towards the Grand Champion title are awarded to the Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex, Select Dog

and Select Bitch. Points are calculated based on the number of animals competing at the breed level for the

Best of Breed Winner and the number of similar sex dogs competing for the other three (Best of Opposite,

Select Dog, Select Bitch). The following schedule shall be employed in the determination of points awarded as

follows:

In counting the number of eligible dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified, dismissed, excused or ordered

from the ring by the judge shall not be included in the calculation for Grand Champion points.

The title of Grand Champion shall not be awarded retroactively and all points towards this title must be

achieved after the date of January 1, 2013. Points earned toward the Grand Champion title are to be recorded

by the owner/handler on the form obtained from the Canadian Kennel Club. Once the owner/handler believes

that their exhibit has attained the requirements for the Grand Champion title, the form may be submitted to the

Canadian Kennel Club for verification and awarding of the title.
