Dear Cornelius Beaumont Enthusiast,
Personally, my first instinct now would be to delete this so-said
Newsletter. I would say, What could this Henry possibly have to
say to me! Well. If you dont read on, you wont find out.
Firstly, we have a Cornelius Beaumont (CB) event coming up in DC
on Saturday, 24rd of March, details on page two. Page three features afeature on Flora Blackett, and then an introduction to Cornelius the
elephant, who will be gracing us with his curious insouciances. The last
page is an introduction to our upcoming website, designed by The Rusty
Pixel. Theres also an opportunity to win a decent bottle of wine.
As a founder of CB, which will organize events in DC, Palm Beach,
New York and London, I am very excited about working in the ethos
that we can take the entertainments we have and make them both better
and more fun and inclusive. Fortunately, Im not alone, and Im sure
that my beautiful significant other, Gwendolyn will be able to steal
enough time away from her job at de Gournay to help make CB a
success.CB also supports Save the Elephants. Please do click on the link and
donate some of your hard earned pecunium, if you feel so inclined.
I send you my sincerest good wishes and hope to see you in future.
Yours faithfully,

The History of the CeilidhA ceilidh means a party in Scotland and
Ireland, and is pronounced Kay-lee.
Scottish country dancing is a form that is
based around the oldest form of folk music inBritain. Instead of the usual musical set up, the
structure is organised in a series of 8 beat
phrases that allow for the dance structures that
are native to both Britain and Ireland.
When my father was very young, he and his 4
brothers would go once a year by ferry, sporting
matching tartan, to the Isle of Skye Games.
There, among the Scottish sporting events was
the hill run, the piping competition, the tossingof the caber and the tug of war. It was a time
when people would come together from
throughout the region and have fun.
Indeed, the farmers tended to retire to the
beer tent, eat some haggis (if they were lucky),
drink beer and whisky and catch up with old
friends.
Dad told me a story where he and his brothers
stole a hair pin from their great aunt and poked
some of the protuberances on the edge of the tent
where the farmers were lined up on benches,
whereupon a handful of angry Scottish farmerspursued them up the hill. I hope that none of those
farmers are reading today!
At the end of the games would be the dances,
hosted in the town hall.
When Queen Victoria encountered these dances,
she saw in them an opportunity for young girls,
particularly, to know better the men they were going
to marry so that they might make happier decisions.
She also saw in it a wonderfully structured way inwhich people could develop some of the most
important traits of gregariousness and the ability to
make fun.
I look forward to running this most Scottish of
entertainments and hope that you will enjoy taking
it up as a quintessential element of life as are wine,
literature, and the musical arts.

Who is Cornelius Beaumont?
FROM THE ELEPHANTS TRUNKPerhaps we should be asking, Who does Cornelius
Beaumont think he is? Poet? Philanderer? Lingerie
critic? Is he even to be trusted around ourshrubberies? Why do girls love him so much!?
Well, let me shed a little light...
Im actually a figment of Henrys imagination (and I
feature on his family crest), but I still like to speak
my mind (and my apologies about the shrubberies).
You see, CB isnt just about talking, dancing, wine,
music and polo, etc. It also about doing a small bit
to make a stronger society where we find more use in each other.
One of the phenomenons that Ive seen over the past few years, and Im sure you have as well, is
that men in particular, but also people in the general sense, seem unwilling to take on responsibility
for themselves or others. This is something that I see as the negative aspect of the otherwise
positive social changes that have occurred over the last 50 years in the areas of equality and
respect. My hope here is to provoke an ethos of
society and a constructive enthusiasm for a more
guardian-like approach to the problems of our age. To
me, this is what life is all about: looking after each
other so that we only ask for help when we really
need it. The events that CB organizes are designed to
create that kind of enthusiasm.
CB will be hosting an Oxford style debate in a few
months time, which will try to shed some light on
what on earth is going on in the global markets right
now. The date and time have yet to be established,
unfortunately, but this is our first letter, so please be
patient!
I wish you love, life, and that you may live longer than
an elephant but without the memory! And watch out
for parking tickets.
Cornelius the Elephant
Unfortunately, Cornelius couldnt be heretoday because he had to appear in court. Some joker cop stuck a ticket to his butt.Yeah, very funny!
Also: here is a random picture. Whoevercan email me the name of the type ofanimal he is and the most amusingcaption will win a decent bottle of wine! Two captions are in already.

CorneliusTheElephant.comOne of the most exciting things coming up is the coming launch ofCornelius Beaumont website,
which will have information regarding upcoming events as well as featuring the artwork of three brilliant
artists. Under the Artists section of the page, there will be a little more on the artists, their inspiration
and links to their website where you can find out more about their art.
The Events page of the website will include interesting information concerning our upcoming events
and activities as they become apparent. These come in two varieties: general mixers and more private
events meant for a particular audience. If you wish to become involved in more private events, which will
happen less regularly, you can sign up on the Get involved page, where you can choose from a
selection of interests that you would like to be involved in, should the opportunity arise, and tell me a
little bit about you.
You will also see links to our chosen charity, Save the Elephants prominently displayed on our page.
We feel strongly about this charity and the good work that they do so, should you feel inclined, do run
your mouse over the words and invest in something that you can be sure will make a good return. The website was designed by Rusty Rayner, founder of The Rusty Pixel, whose latest short
independent film
"Lemonade Stand" has
been chosen as an
official Selection of
both the 2012
Gasparilla
International Film
Festival, March 29th to
April 1st, as well as the
2012 Fort Myers Film
Festival, March 21st to
25th. We hope that he
will go on to more
success and are grateful
to The Rusty Pixel for
the brilliant design
work that has allowed
Cornelius Beaumont to
get up and running.
