Meet quality suppliers from Central America, Jordan and Moldova
Are you interested in discovering new markets? The Centre for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries (CBI) can put you in touch with reliable, certified suppliers equipped to do business with a European partner. At Fruit Logistica, CBI will be presenting 32 carefully selected companies from Central America, Jordan and Moldova. Each of these companies has received individual coaching from a CBI sector expert. The suppliers offer a diverse range of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Central American suppliers ready for the European Market
At Fruit Logistica, CBI will present 12 companies from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua that are now ready to enter the European Market. The companies offer an interesting range of products, from fruits like papayas, mangos and limes to vegetables like okra, mini vegetables, sugar snaps, mangetout, roots and tubers, as well as appealing organic products such as ginger, sweet potatoes and pitahayas (dragon fruit).
Due to their rich volcanic soils, microclimates and experienced agricultural labour force, Central American countries are a source of high-quality produce during the fall and winter season. Many of
the exports currently go to the USA, but these countries offer numerous products that appeal to the European market as well, especially considering the Association Agreement that was signed between the EU and the Central American region in 2012. Among other things, this agreement has eliminated most import tariffs and has improved conditions for trade. Within its Connecting Central America Programme, CBI supports SMEs and cooperatives in becoming more competitive on the European market. The project is co-financed by the European Union and coordinated by SIECA.

Quality products from Jordan
Jordan has competitive advantages as a supplier of fresh fruits and vegetables, in particular because of the long production season in the Jordan Valley and its proximity to Europe. At Fruit Logistica, CBI will present eight different Jordanian companies that produce or trade a variety of quality fruits and vegetables, and especially dates. These companies have been carefully selected as participants in CBI’s Jordan Fresh Fruits & Vegetables

Programme. Tailored technical assistance and market entry support will make them reliable suppliers of high-quality, certified and healthy food with increased market access. In addition, CBI is increasing the capacity of the Jordan Exporters and Producers Association (JEPA) so they can take a leading role in export promotion activities, such as trade fair participation and trade missions, and be a true advocate representing the entire Jordanian fruits and vegetable sector.

Moldova, taste makes the difference!
Moldova is a fertile country with a long tradition of fruit produc-tion. Fruits grown in this country include apples, cherries, grapes, plums and other stone fruits. All of these will be presented at the Moldova stand at Fruit Logistica 2020. Together with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), CBI supports 19 SMEs, of which 12 produce fresh fruits and 7 produce processed fruits or honey. In Moldova, CBI works with local sector association Moldova Fruct, which aims to promote the Moldovan fruit sector to international buyers and support the development of fruitful business relationships.

Sabroso Tropics SA de CV, owned and operated by the Menjivar family is aSalvadorian exporting company with the highest standards of quality, withfull control of the product from picking to packing, all while ensuring a never broken cold chain.
The Menjivar family and Sabroso Tropics work very hard to maintain thewater springs of the surrounding areas. There are 60 hectares of designated untouched forest on their lands for the preservation of the water springs. With this effort the compay is able to irrigate all their fields with water springs born in their own land.

DFT – Agrotropic (Distribuidora de Frutas Tropicales – Agroindustrias del Tropico) is a family owned company established in 2000.
DFT grows, packs and exports fresh mangoes to the United States of America (California, New York and Florida), Canada, Chile and Europe (the Netherlands and Spain). DFT’s orchards and packing house are located 200 kilometers to the Southwest of Guatemala City on the Pacific Coast of the country, near the port of Champerico, in Retalhuleu. Under state grown production, DFT grows all of the exported mangoes of the varieties Tommy Atkins, Ataulfo, Kent and Keitt. This provides excellent quality control along the crop cycle.To the date, DFT employs 65 permanent staff and 400 eventual personnel during the harvest season from March to May. With more than seventy thousand mango trees under production, DFT is on the biggest grower in Central America, with the capacity to produce more than 1.5 million boxes of fresh mango per season.
Following the growing plans of the company, a new plant was built in 2016, designed to produce IQF mango chunks, mango puree and multiple frozen fruits as bananas and plantains.

Cooperativa Agrícola Integral Magdalena R.L. is a cooperative, formed and owned by growers from Magdalena Milpas Altas and its neighborhoods towns, dedicated to produce, pack and export fresh vegetables. Their facility is located in the town of Magdalena Milpas Altas, Sacatepéquez, at only 37km from Guatemala City and 10 minutes from La Antigua Guatemala.
Their mission is to produce, pack and export fresh vegetables with the best quality, complying with international and national standards and regulations. Cooperativa Magdalena cares about supporting small farmers and their families, financially supporting planting and holding different family events.
Recently their plant has been expanded to have 15,000 ft2 refrigerated areas. For over 10 years their facility has been satisfactorily audited by NSF under the Good Manufacturing Practices standard and it now complies with the SQF Level 2 standard.

Elrachman is a company that started operations in 1998 as an individualcompany. Since the formation of their company they have been working with farmers who feel a deep love for the field. The company specializes in the production of papayas and tries to deposit in each product that love towards agriculture.
Thanks to this devotion reflected in the taste and quality of their product and after attending informal markets, in 2010 Elrachman started supplying transnational companies such as Walmart and McDonalds, among others. After which they extended their market to the Central American region. Today the company exports to their region and looks for new markets, so they can delight the fruit of their devoted work.

Del Valle Farms started in May 2017 as local producers of sweet potato.
The company always had the ambition and vision to become an exporting company. To achieve this goal, they worked hared and accomplished their first export to Canada in September 2018.
An important milestone for Del Valle farms in 2019 was the inauguration of their own packing house in January 2019. They offer sweet potato in conventional and in certified organic.

The orchard is sitting on 170 hectares, that is located in Anenii Noi district, in a beautiful village Cobusca Veche. From 2016, we get our own cold storage with a capacity of 500 ton situate not far from the orchard.
The orchard is situated on a unique location, the soils and climate allow our trees to thrive and ensures to have a tasty and flavor fruit. We are a blossom-ing orchard specializing in homegrown plums varieties, including Stanley, President, Pitestean, Black amber, with a productivity of 1000 -1500 tons per year. We also grow cherries, sour-cherries and apricots.

The orchards have 90 ha and are located in the village of Domulgeni, in the district of Floresti. We are a group of apple growers that produce 3100 tons. We have superintensive orchards with irrigation systems and anti-hail net. We have a 3000 tons refrigerated warehouse with a hall of 1000 m2 . We have a water basin. We also have a maroon calibration line. In addition to producing apples, we offer apple calibration and storage services.
We have established good and long-lasting relationships with our clients. We export to Russia and Middle Eastern countries. We sell apples for processing around 150 tons to Orhei Vit SRL.
Due to geographic positioning and soil quality we get a sweet and special taste for what we are known for and we have an edge over other countries. The spectrum of varieties, including Idared, Renet Simirenko, Florina, Golden Delicious, Gala, and Jonagold, provides for more than enough product to meet a buyer’s needs throughout the marketing season.
Now we are employ state-of-the-art intensive production technologies and starting up each year, providing higher yields and greater uniformity in size and color. New postharvest facilities that ensure the Moldovan apples are properly graded, stored, and packed for delivery to international customers on a timely basis.

Our story started more than 20 years ago in The North of The Republic of Moldova. In our family the love for fruits growing has been worn through-out the generations. In this way, Smarta Ltd was founded in 1999 by Anatolii Caduc who is currently the President of the company. In short time almost all the family members were integrated in the managing and apple growing process, and became a dynamic, professional and qualified team.
Smarta owns 70 ha of apple orchard. The apples are harvested manually and stored in our cold storage rooms. Then sorted according to the size, color and quality, and packaged in accordance with the customer’s requirements.
Our orchards are located in The North of Moldova. The moderate continen-tal climate and the fertile soils composition among with the higher temperatures in summer and softer winters give our apples a unique flavor, high sugar content as well as rich color and aroma.
