Agriculture in India • Agriculture Growth Rate in India GDP in spite of its decline in the share of

the country's GDP plays a very important role in the all round economic and social development of the country.

• The Union Budget 2012-13 has pegged India's GDP growth at 7.6% for the fiscal.

• Greater focus on the agriculture sector will help double digit growth • Contribution to the GDP has declined from 42.8% in 1960 to 19% in 2010

Indian Agriculture Industry

Growing PopulationReducing Arable Land due to

Rapid Industrialisation Use of Crops as Bio-Fuels

Food Scarcity Crisis

Will require high yield seeds & bio-fertilizers to improve agriculture productivity

India would be short of 14 mmt of food grains by 2017 if the present growth rate of food grain production continues.

Indian Agrochemicals Industry The Indian agrochemicals market grew at a rate of 7.5% from US$ 1.36 billion in FY 2009 to an estimated USD 1.8 billion in FY 2012

4th largest producer in the world after the US, Japan and China.

Exports formed 50% of total industry turnover in FY08 and have achieved a Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 29% from FY 2004 to FY 2008.

Produces 16% of the world’s food grains; responsible for only 2% of world’s pesticides usage.

The Indian agricultural sector is highly dependent on monsoons, the market for agrochemicals is expected to grow at a conservative growth rate of 7.5% to reach USD 1.95 billion by FY14

Approx. 18% of the crop yield worth Rs. 900 billion is lost due to pests every year in India.

Benefits of Agricultural Biotechnology

• Increases production yields, thereby reducing pressures to force more land, often marginal and highly erodible land, into production;

• Enhances soil moisture content, reducing erosion and limiting carbon dioxide emissions;

• Using biotech greatly reduces on-farm energy consumption and associated environmental impacts; and

• Concentrated animal agriculture operations via biotechnology-improved feed products and biotech nutritional supplements for livestock.

• It helps produce crops and raise animals without relying on toxic chemical pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, genetically modified seeds that degrade soil, water, or other natural resources

About Us• Agricultural biotechnology company, based in India.• The company offers bio-products including biocides, bio-

fertilizers and stimulants, and hybrid seeds.• Camson delivers innovative products to maximize agricultural

productivity and sustainability while reducing the environmental impact.

• First Indian company in India to research, produce and market unique seeds like ice box watermelons under 3 kilos out of their own R&D facilities

• The company provides biocides that destroy and control the growth of harmful pathogens. It offers bio-fertilizers which increases soil fertility and reduces the cost of cultivation.

Product Profile

Seeds

• Proven track record of hybrid vegetable seeds• Range of over 49 varieties• Pipeline of an additional 70 more varieties

Bio-fertilizers

• Effective mobilisation of nutrients to plant • Reduce the need to use chemical fertilizers by restoring the

soils natural nutrient cycle and enhancing the soil condition

Biocides

• Effective in controlling various pests and pathogen• Leading edge in innovating/ formulating effective biocides

Page 8: Cbtl new

Product Features•Longer shelf life•Higher Realisation due to unique characteristics•Offer great protection period•Pests/insects do not develop resistance to biocide even after multiple uses•Fewer sprays, in turn saves labor cost•Greater yield per acre•Zero residue product•Can be used along with chemical pesticides•Cater to wide range of crops

Page 9: Cbtl new

The Camson Advantage

• Strong focus on in-house research capabilities• Entire Biocides research process takes about 9 - 12

yearsR&D

• Have been set up in southern and northern parts of India, keeping in mind the diverse demand in both.

• Contract production (Hybrid seeds) spread over 1000 acres in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu

Manufacturing Facility

• Currently active in Six States Andhra Pradesh, UP, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Haryana

• Intends to expand on pan-India basis and enter in International markets

Market Capitalization

Zero-residue farming• World Population is 7 billion in 2013 growing at 30% for the last two decades.• To feed such a huge population modernization of agricultural sector, such as large

scale farming with monocropping , intensive chemical fertilization and modern agricultural machinery has been done.

• This has resulted to soil degradation processes such as drought, soil erosion or soil, hence land productivity is tending to decline.

• To achieve Zero-residue farming use of Bio fertilizers and bio pesticides is key to sustainable yields for future generations.

• They protect crops and help sustain growth by using biocides for safer, healthy and eco friendly produce.

• Uses organically derived biocides and biofertilizers to protect crops and enhance growth.

• Advantages it offers: Low use of chemicals Less burden on environment

Challenges• Reduced availability

of farm land• Degradation of

farmland due to continuous exploitation

• Low water availability• High input Cost• Environmental

degradation

Growing global population, has resulted in unprecedented challenges in sustainably addressing some of the world's toughest problems.

Feeding the world, decreasing dependence on fossil fuels, and protecting people and the environment are all critical issues that require long-term thinking and science-driven innovation.

Future Trend For Agricultural Biotechnology

India to sustain its growing population needs to achieve food grain self-sufficiency and the momentum in floriculture and horticulture sectors.

Government stepping its efforts up to educate farmers the right use of agrochemicals in terms of quantity to be used, the right application methodology and appropriate chemicals to be used for indentified pest problems .

Focus on developing environmentally safe bio pesticides by the industry as well as the Government.

Focus by larger companies on brand building by conducting awareness camps for farmers and providing complete solutions

Focus on R&D in bio-pesticides segment with increasing preference for environmentally safe products in the market

“Farmers are not defenseless in their struggle against evolving agriculture challenges and we can meet these challenges with solutions that

are more environmentally friendly”

“Biotechnology will continue to be one of the ‘greenest’ tools available to help farmers better

provide the food, fuel and fiber to serve a growing population”

- Sharon Bomer Lauritsen, Exective VP, BIO
