For the manufacturing of aluminium anodes we use 99.7-99.99% purity level Al blocks.

The ideal casting is produced by the alloying of the 99.99% pure metal in induction furnace.

The form casting of the anode is executed in cast iron mould-ings according to the ordered size and shape meeting the requirements of the USMILL, BS, DIN standard. The weight of standard anodes is 5-50 kg.

For the manufacturing of zinc anodes we use high-purity (99.99 %) Zn blocks.The melting procedure takes place in the induction furnace, in graphite melting pots, with the application of the metallurgically necessary cover-ing and cleansing salts. The alloy will be cast in oxide-, and

inclusionfree state. The surfaces of the connections are coated by a zinc layer. The form casting of the blocks is carried out by means of cast iron moulds according to the USMILL, BS, DIN standards.

FeSi AnodesThe excellent quality of the ferrosilicon anodes is ensured by the manufacturing with induction melting procedure in a semi-automatic plant which precludes the possibility of metal contami-nation and guarantees the equal distribution of ele-ments in the end-product.

The anodes are manufactured either by mould casting or by traditional sand cast-ing procedures using strict regulations. The outstanding corrosion resistivity and

other favourable characteristics are the result of the manufacturing procedure and this makes the ferrosilicon anodes internationally recognized for corrosion protection systems. From 2004 we are using FeSi anodes, produced by casting technology of CHILLMOULD. This technology succeed a perfect metal grain structure, as you can see on the picture below.

Technical parameters

The manufacturing of ferrosilicon anodes is carried out by the observation of the following internationally respected regulations for corrosion resistant silicon alloy cast irons: BS1591 1975 ASTMA518-80

Mechanical and electronic featuresFerrosilicon materials have dense, homogenous properties that ensure the equal distribution of anode characteristics along the total length. The end-product has low elongation properties and therefore must be carefully treated and can not be exposed to mechanical or thermic extremes. Anode to cable connection and proper isolation is tested by Corrocont Quality Engineer.

FeSi canisteranode

The ferrosilicon anodes are centered in sealed canisters, which are then filled with coke backfill material. These anodes are used for groundbed applications to reduce installation costs by providing the anode and coke backfill in one package.

Coke backfills provide a homogenousenvironment for impressed current anodesand can substantially lower groundresistance by twenty, thirty, or even fortypercent. Canisters manufactured byCORROCONT Ltd ensure the anodes areevenly surrounded with the proper amountof coke breeze backfill. Canisters makepossible to better withstand rough handingduring shipping and installation. Evenbackfill compaction is assured since thecans are vibrated during filling to obtainthe right material density.Backfill containers not only reduceinstallation costs, it also saves time andcoke breeze material.

Typical ApplicationsCanisters are designed for pre-packagingimpressed current anodes in coke breezebackfills. They are ideal for wet andmarshy environments, too where the fieldinstallation of a coke breeze backfill isdifficult. The canisters ensure even cokebreeze compaction and a homogenousenvironment for superior currentdischarge.

Mixed Metal Oxide Anodes have proven to operate effectively in all types of environments. Including areas with extremely low pH level and high level chloride concentration. While these anodes can be used singularly, their unique configuration makes them ideal for use in strings on offshore platforms or in deep ground beds. In addition, the string anodes can be installed parallel to transmission pipelines, or used for other special application.

Oil Cooled CP RectifierThis Oil-Cooled Rectifier combines top quality components and manufacturing methods with the best features. Incoming AC power is stepped down, isolated and rectified to a controlled DC output. Input overload & short circuit protection is provided by magnetic-trip circuit breakers; output protection by means of semiconductor fuses in the transformer secondary. Primary AC/DC lightning protection is provided by high energy Metal Oxide Varistor (M.O.V.) arrestors; secondary surge suppression by disk-style M.O.V’s. Portable reference cells can be used to conduct potential measurements on all types of buried and submerged struc-tures. The cells are made with solid copper elements which are housed in impact resistant plastic tubes. To ensure the copper elements remain electrically stable, copper sulfate crystals are provided with each cell. The crystals surround the copper elements in the plastic tube, and when mixed with distilled water, create a super saturated solution of

copper sulfate to reduce ion intermixing. A window on each cell allows the operator to observe the water level of the crystallized solution. If the level is insufficient, water or copper sulfate crystals can be added simply by removing the end cap found on each cell.

To obtain accurate potential readings a portable reference cell must be able to make low resistance contact with an electrolyte. The cells achieve superior electrical contact to soils, water, and concrete through a special porcelain plug. The plugs are porous and remain moist. They are available in different shapes to address specific applications, and when not in use, can be protected by plastic caps which are provided.

ApplicationPortable reference cells can be used to measure electrical potentials on buried structures (pipelines, under-ground storage tanks), reinforced concrete bridges and parking garages. Submersible adapters are also available to permit their use in water tanks and other vessels. To obtain the most accurate potential readings, the right cell configurations should be selected for a particular environment. The cells should be protected from freezing and should not be used in areas with high chloride ion concentrations.

Earth contactbackfill cokeParticle size and shape are also important when specifying a backfill. Both parameters determine the contact area between anode and earth whilst influencing the porosity of the column which is important for gas ventilation.

A general purpose coke breeze is for use in shallow horizontal and vertical ground beds. For deep well applications a special calcined petroleum coke breeze is available. Corrocont backfill coke mixes easily with water and provide homogenous environment for impressed current anodes deep or shallow and can substantially lower ground resistance by twenty, thirty, or even forty percent. The coke could be pumped easily into deep anode systems and a dust-free product and, according to EPA extraction tests, is extremely pure and complies with regulations governing buried products. Corrocont backfill coke is produced specifically for cathodic protection applications.

The bulk density and high fixed carbon content coupled with the assured low resistivity medium allows for reduce installation cost, it also saves time and coke breeze material.

The foundry is located at the Szigetszentmiklós plant of CORROCONT Ltd. Annual capacity: 1000 t of cast metal. The foundry was built to meet special requirements since it produces mainly individual low number castings with traditional manual forming, but using self-setting, turning moulds.The flexibility of the foundry is ensured by the melting units: firstly the quick operating Inductotherm VIP 130 type, high-frequency melting unit with 50 and 75 kg turning furnace body, secondly the middle-frequency turn-machine furnace with two 160 kg turning furnace body suitable for melting greater quantities, masses and for holding temperatures for longer periods. The high quality standard of our plant is guaranteed by the quality certificate provided to each of our products.

For testing during the processes and for the final checking we use a HILGERT spectrometer. The quality management system of the foundry operates in accordance with the ISO 9001 standard awarded to the plant.We take care of special demand orders, specimen manufacturing, and the relating technology planning. We prepare heat-treated, painted, ready-made castings on demand.
