Before You Begin
• Account name and @user names – choose a name for your accounts– Do your best to choose a name that best represents
your college makerspace– Prior to beginning the process, check Facebook
Pages, Twitter and Instagram to make sure the account name and @usernames you choose are available – do your best to keep them the same across all accounts – or make them as similar as possible
Before You Begin
• Images – Select images best representing your makerspace. Here’s a guide for social media image size: This Year’s Cheat Sheet of Social Media Photo & Image Sizes (Infographic)
• Create a password ahead of time. Make sure you don’t lose it!! • Website address – know your CCC Makerspace website address• Email address –know the email address you will be using for all
of the accounts. This will be an administrative email address.• Bio/About – have your bio ready to enter

TwitterDesktop1. Sign up for Twitter
https://twitter.com/signup –populate the fields with makerspace name, email or phone number and password, then click the blue button: Sign up for Twitter click the button and the browser will advance to a couple more pages. Follow the prompts
2. If necessary, edit your handle @ so it’s similar to your makerspace name by going to Settings
3. Images and Profile – to add images and editing, begin by clicking on the blue photo area
TwitterDesktop4. Edit Profile – To add
images click on the photo/camera image on the left. You will then see upload photo for the profile photo and for the cover/header photo you’ll see Add a header photo. Add your photos and click the Save changes button
5. Edit profile – on the right, you will see were to populate and personalize your Twitter page
6. Settings – click the Settings button. Here you can further set your account specifications
7. Home – after you’ve finished your Settings, go to the Home button on the top right of the page
8. Tweet!!
TwitterTwitter Mobile: One of the easiest ways to use Twitter at events and in the makerspace is via mobile. You can download the app on iPhone or Android.
TwitterIf you use a personal account as well it is very easy to switch between accounts (Photo 1) on the go, check notifications, or create and share your account info with a QR code. Examples on iPhone are below.
YouTubeIn addition to adding videos to your social media profiles, you may want to store longer videos, recorded demos, or workshops on YouTube. YouTube accounts are directly linked to Google accounts. You can either use an existing Google account to create your YouTube account, or you can set up a YouTube account from scratch and a Google account will be created for you in the process. How to create a YouTube account if you don’t have a Google account1. Go to youtube.com.2. Click “Sign-in” in the top right corner of the page.3. Select “Create account.”
YouTubeFill out the fields required to create your Google account. Once you’ve created your Google account, you’ll be taken to the YouTube homepage. From there:1. Click on “My Channel” from the menu on
the left side.
2. Click on “Use a business or other name” on the pop-up that appears.
YouTube3. Choose a name for your channel and the category that best
describes your business. Note that a Google+ page will automatically be created under this name as well. Now your ready to upload your cover art and set up page.

YouTubeIf you already have a Google account for your
makerspace or a personal account
1. Go to www.youtube.com
2. Sign in with the email address attached to your existing Google
account.
3. Click on your profile icon in the top right corner.
4. Click on the wheel icon beside “Creator Studio.”
YouTubeSet up your YouTube channel:
1. In the upper right corner add other social links and upload cover
art.
2. Go to the gear icon and choose your settings
3. Create playlists to keep your videos organized
4. In the about section describe your channel with bio
You are ready to upload videos!!
1. In the upper right corner click on the up arrow and select file to
upload. Make sure it is set to public if you want others to be able to
view video.
2. In the help and suggestions section there are great instructions and tip.
3. Take advantage of the “create videos” tools and learn about live
streaming.
