1 General Observations
1.1 Introduction
This report details out the problems noticed in AFSuite v4.2 during installation on a Windows 7 (Ultimate x64) Spanish edition based computer. The reports also details out the possible fix/workaround steps to be followed to mitigate this issue.
Although this problem was identified in a Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Spanish edition at the time of reporting. After analysis, it is believed that this problem is mainly because of the “Spanish edition” nature of the Windows OS being used.
1.2 Problem Description
Like mentioned in CCRP case number “US-61258”,
“Customer try to install the AFSuit, sofware to operate OVR reclosers from Lake Mary, but it is only possible to do it in Windows 8. Any other version of windows is it not possible to install the sofware. Even customer sent a video showing the type of error. I can not include here because the video has 7 MB. No only this customer has this problem in Honduras but also other customer in El Salvador (Julio Rodriguez-American Park)”.
The video sent by the customer provided lot of details and hints to recreate this problem, without which it would been have been lot more difficult to figure out the core reason.

4 Software Fixes In order to fix this issue, perform the workaround mentioned in section 4.1.
4.1 Workaround when installing AFSuite v4.2.0, in Window 7 Spanish edition.
This involves two additional steps to be performed, one prior to, and one after, using AFSuite v4.2.0 installation package. Below is the outline of the steps involved and detailed in the sections followed,
1. Create a user group named “Everyone” in the computer.
2. Install AFSuite v4.2.0.
3. Select target directory (usually defaulted to, C:\Program Files (x86)\ABB, Inc\AFSuite”) and set up its access rights for the Spanish version default group “Todos”.
Before proceeding with the steps, make sure that any current installation for AFSuite in the intended computer is uninstalled completely. This can be verified by launching Control Panel->Programs and Features, and make sure that the name “AFSuite” is not seen in the table displayed.
Make sure all PCD entries in Fleet View are exported to *.abb file.
Ensure that “Target directory”, usually defaulted to, “C:\Program Files (x86)\ABB, Inc\AFSuite” is deleted and unavailable.
