CD CoverEvaluation

This is a power point explaining the process of making our CD Cover as a

part of our promotional package…

Page 2: Cd evaluation

These were the pictures we chose to use as we noticed that they were similar to that of the ones used in the r ‘n’ b genre

The poses we used were based on real life cd cases, from people such as the pussycat dolls and the Saturdays, we were also inspired by other r ‘n’ b artists such as ciara and Bow Wow.

We uploaded both of the photos to Photoshop and then took the backgrounds away using the magic wand tool

However while taking the backgrounds off we realised that the picture on the left was not coming out clear but infact had a black background!

This was easily solved by unlocking the layer

We then placed one of the photos in to the other to create one picture of us together

We then cropped the photo using the crop tool on Photoshop in order to make in fit in to the Cd and also to allow us to do our chosen style of pop art.

The process was repeated for the image to be used on our back cover.

To make our front cover we used a photo editing website called Fotoflexer this enabled us to get the effect we wanted as quickly, easily and efficiently as possible

The first thing we needed to do was upload the picture then we tried on different effects however we felt the one for us was pop art

Once adding the effect we saw that the colours did not match our theme of “Girl Power” and so we played around with the hue and saturation levers until finally we found a colour that worked

Once completing this we decided that no CD Cover was complete until writing was added to state the CD Title and the artists the layout of the writing we chose by using other examples of album covers.

However once adding the text we realised that the title should have been more of a main feature this the motivated us to make it bigger than the rest of writing which we felt would draw the audiences attention to it.

To finalise our cover we added a logo which would again be used for the promotional poster

We made the back of our Cd the same colours as the front so that they wouldn’t contrast.

We the added text to it following the norms of a conventional CD cover by writing the songs compiled on the CD

After adding the text however we still found something was missing, so we looked some more Cd cases and saw that they had added text at the bottom about the producers and so on, so this is precisely what we did

We also added the second picture that we edited behind the text I feel this gave a very constructive outlook on the back cover and also made it look more professional.

We placed both pictures on power point to see what they would look like placed together

There was still something missing so once again we searched through some CD covers and found that they all had a strip in between stating the artist and title names so we added this and grouped it all together to create our final Cd .
